Say it ain’t so! HBO’s hit series True Blood is saying goodbye in 2014, with the upcoming seventh season being the show’s last. The network made the announcement just yesterday.
“True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO,” Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, said in a statement. “Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show.”
The season finale was INTENSE, showing Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) almost forced to become a faerie-vampire bride to her crazy love interest vampire Warlow (Rob Kazinsky), but she was saved by her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten). We also see Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) being burned by the sun over in Europe as he sat reading a book butt naked after he thought he was free to walk around in the light, as well as a bunch of Hepititis V-infected vampires heading straight for Bon Temps! No one knows what’s going to happen next summer!
Brian Buckner, the series’ showrunner in recent years, said that the show won’t disappoint for the final season. “As we take a final walk through Bon Temps together, we will do our very best to bring Sookie’s story to a close with heart, imagination and, of course, fun,” he said.
I’m not too too surprised. I heard the rumors floating around earlier on in the summer that True Blood might go off the air, but still! That show makes my Sunday nights during the summer! Ehh all good things must eventually come to an end, I guess. I’m just hoping that the show really goes out with a bang, but still has a great resolution, not leaving viewers in the dark. We’ll see what happens!
What do you think of True Blood going off the air?
