BB-Ball Gaga – P. 212 – Sculptor and artist John O’Hearn of Gainesville, Florida, makes colorful mosaics from thousands of Airsoft BBs–the 1/4-in plastic balls used in a BB gun. Among his designs are a portrait of Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow from 46,308 BBs, which measures 4 x 6 ft and this larger-than-life mosaic of singer Lady Gaga that is 4 x 8 ft and contains 61,509 BBs.

Marilyn With Wings – P. 233 – Mexican artist Enrique Ramos created a portrait of Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe from hundreds of rainforest butterflies. Enrique has also created an image of United States’ President John F. Kennedy in the same way. Both insect portraits are on display at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum in London, England.

Lennon’s Toilet – P. 25 – A toilet once owned by Beatle John Lennon was sold for the grand sum of $14,740 in 2010. The builder who had removed the lavatory from Lennon’s Berkshire, England, home in 1971 kept it in his shed for almost 40 years.

Burger Bill – P. 10 – Ripley’s recently bought large portraits of Bill and Hilary Clinton made entirely from burger grease. Created by Washington artist Phil Hansen, the artworks are intended to show just how greasy fast food burgers are. Bill measures 8 x 4 ft and was made with grease from more than 50 burgers.

The Candy Man – P. 222 – Mexico City artist Christiam Ramos makes amazing candy portraits of celebrities. Instead of paint, he uses Gummi Bears, licorice, M&M’s and after-dinner mints as his artistic materials. His works include likenesses of Elvis and Michael Jackson from hundreds of M&M’s, and a portrait of Lady Gaga from gumdrops, M&M’s and yellow licorice.

Celebrity Pumpkins – P. 222 – Gardener David Finkle carves impressive portraits of famous people – including Barack Obama, Michael Jackson and Simon Cowell – out of pumpkins that grow on his small farm at Chelmsford in Essex, England.

Surprise Visit – P. 28 – After nine-year-old Beatrice Delap wrote to captain Jack Sparrow – Johnny Depp’s character in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies – asking for help with an uprising against teachers at her school in Greenwich, London, Depp responded by turning up at the school in full pirate costume. The Hollywood star was in the area filming the fourth movie in the series in October 2010 and gave the school 10 minutes’ notice that he was on his way.

The most disturbing thing that I have heard that is strikingly true is that Nicolas Cage is considered an actor! WTF!
