Zynga and Lady Gaga are looking to lure in the faux farmers. Yep, that’s right. For those of you who play the popular online game Farmville, you will get to hear some new song from Gaga’s new album in a new land called Gagaville.
Talk about an unusual way to promote your music, but Farmville does reach about 46 million people worldwide every single month. So going where the fans are only makes sense.
So with that being said, if you want to hear some of Gaga’s new stuff before anyone else anywhere, you will have to hop onto Farmville to do so.
So here’s how it is all about to go down.
A specially-created farm called Gagaville is where players (and Gaga fans) will have to be from May 17th to May 19th to complete tasks to hear ONE exclusive track per day from Gaga’s Born This Way album (set to release on May 23rd). Then on May 20th, you’ll get the chance to unlock additional songs.
But don’t expect Gagaville to be a permanent fixture. Players will have until May 26th to cop a listen and celebrate the release of Gaga’s album.
In addition, Clear Channel Radio will also be taking part in this promotion, streaming songs in Farmville through iHeartRadio service. Clear Channel rep Bob Pittman said, “We know that our listeners are spending a lot of time with social games, and we’re going to be wherever our listeners are. So this kind of social, immersive experience is a great way for us to further engage with our listeners.”
Zynga’s Raquel DiSabatino said, “Lady Gaga is as passionate about her fans as we are about our players. This really was a great meeting of the minds to create an innovative and playful experience for those folks.”
Ultimately, Zynga is hoping those little monsters stick around longer than just unlocking the unicorns or the biker sheep for that free music.
