No, she was not tardy for the party. Kandi was absent, not present, nowhere to be seen!
People these days may only know Kandi Burruss from her stint on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’, but before she was a reality television staple, she was a member of one of the most popular R&B girl groups of the 90s. Xscape, then promoted as the ghetto version of girl group En Vogue, was known for their more laid-back, hood style. But they could sing, and the group was put together by none other than producer Jermaine Dupri. The man behind their music celebrated 20 years in the industry recently, but Kandi was visibly absent and has now issued a statement as to why:
“Me not coming to the reunion has nothing to do with me being disrespectful to Jermaine. I always feel like I will be in debt to him for what he’s done to my career, and I appreciate everything that he’s done… for me.”
This was during a radio show interview and for those looking for a reunion of Xscape, they may want to wait another decade! Things are not looking up for this quartet to reunite any time soon!
