Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web
Bob Simon, a long-time CBS reporter and ongoing 60 Minutes correspondent, was killed in a car accident on Wednesday night in New York City, according to the network for which he worked.
Simon was 73 years old.
Details are still coming in, but the veteran reporter is believed to have been the passenger in a Lincoln town car that was struck on the West Side Highway by a Mercedes Benz.
It is unknown at this time if there were other injuries or fatalities as a result of the tragic incident.
Simon was transported to a local hospital, but doctors there were unable to save his life.
Following nearly two decades at 60 Minutes, Simon won a total of six Emmy Awards, most recently in 2012 for his work on the segment “Joy in the Congo.”
He also won a Peabody award for international reporting on CBS News.
Our thoughts go out to his loved ones.
Veteran news anchor Bob Simon was killed in a horrifying car crash in the heart of Manhattan Wednesday night, RadarOnline.com has learned.
According to reports, Simon, 73, was a passenger in a livery cab that was involved in a crash on the West Side Highway around West 30th Street Wednesday evening. According to the NY Daily News, the cab rear-ended a Mercedes Benz driven by a 23-year-old male.
An eyewitness told Radar that there were frantic efforts to revive the victims at the scene with CPR after he was cut out of the cab, but Simon later died at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital. The cab driver remains in serious condition at Bellevue.
NYPD are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
After a nearly 30 year career as a war correspondent for CBS News, Simon was captured by Iraqi forces during the Gulf War in January 1991, and spent 40 days imprisoned. That experience became the basis of his book, Forty Days.
In 1996, he joined 60 Minutes as a correspondent, and became a correspondent for 60 Minutes II in 1998.

Group round continues on American Idol Season 14 Episode 11! The judges are separating the men from the crybabies in hopes that we’ll arrive at the best Top 24 we’ve ever seen.
That’s not likely to happen since we’ve been doing this for FOURTEEN YEARS now, but hey, it’ll probably be better than the crop from the Nicki-Mariah season so there’s that.
Here’s hoping no one faints tonight.
Harry says they look at group round as how the contestants get back up when they get knocked down, so the takeaway there is that they’re expecting people to suck.
Good to know.

Then everyone sings in unison and Jax, up until this point incredibly talented, gets a little weird. NBC News dropped the hammer on Brian Williams this week, but the beleaguered anchor has an unlikely ally in his corner — Charlie Sheen! The Anger Management star went off on top brass at the network over what he called a “vile” “witch hunt” on Wednesday, and RadarOnline.com has all the details.
“Dear Mr. Williams, Sorry to bother you during this most surreal, unjust and mercurial moment in your awesome life,” Sheen tweeted Wednesday night.
“Secondly, Thank you “squared” for delivering not only the news on a nightly basis, (PERFECTLY) to myself and my family. But for every other person alive, (with a TV) who relied and still do, on your poetic, insightful and NOBLE sacrifices, that made our longest nights shorter, and our shortest nights safer. You good sir, are a hero in my ‘Entire Library.’”
Turning his attention to NBC, who announced Williams would be taking a six-month leave of absence with no pay, Sheen was less complimentary.
“You are clearly the victim of a transparent and vile witch hunt!” he wrote. “Erroneously ‘staged’ by hooligans, non …read more

You’ve seen her stunning cover for Lucky magazine’s new spring issue. Now find out why Lupita Nyong’o was banned from wearing make-up and how she’s coping with her new found fame inside….
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is the cover girl for LUCKY magazine’s March 2015 issue. Her breathtaking cover was released last week, now her interview, which reveals a few things you may not have known about the award-winning actress, has surfaced.
In the cover story, the Kenyan beauty (above in a styling in a neon Novis dress, Christian Louboutin “Riri” pumps and an Ela clutch) talks about how, as a child, she was banned from wearing or using any cosmetics until she was nearly 18-year-old. She said,
“My mother has never ever worn a drop of makeup in her life—not even at her wedding,” she recalls. As a girl, Nyong’o’s only real exposure to the world of creams, sticks and shadows came via an aunt who would occasionally visit with the contraband materials and paint her face while her mother was out. “Honestly, my mother’s outlook was hard for me to take when I was a teenager and I wanted to experiment. But in the end I appreciated …read more

Former TODAY show co-anchor Ann Curry knows a little bit about being dragged through the mud at NBC. But RadarOnline.com has learned she isn’t exactly offering former friend Brian Williams support during his own time of scandal. Insiders tell Radar she’s “not surprised” at the current backlash, because of a secret slight that torpedoed their once-strong relationship.
Curry and NBC Nightly News anchor Williams used to have a “very close professional working relationship, and when she got infamously booted from TODAY, Brian was one of her biggest champions,” an insider explained.
As such, when Williams needed time off over a holiday weekend in early 2013, “It was Brian that suggested Ann fill in for him,” said the source, “and she did.”
But it didn’t go as smoothly as expected.
“Brian was stunned when viewers tuned out and the ratings reflected that,” the source said. “The ratings took a huge nose dive and Brian never forgot it. He had trusted Ann, and he felt she had let him down.”
“Their relationship never recovered after that,” said the source, and now, “Ann isn’t surprised that Brian doesn’t have a …read more
