Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Kerry Washington Loves Popcorn. And Lots Of It.

The beautiful and talented Kerry Washington covers the Women’s Health magazine cover for December’s issue. Washington, currently starring in the hit ABC Show Scandal and also coming out with a film: Django Unchained, the highly anticipated Quentin Tarantino film (opening on Christmas Day and costarring Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio) is looking fierce and fabulous! Check out the highlights from her interview with the mag below.

ABOUT HER UPCOMING ROLE WITH JAMIE FOXX IN THE FILM DJANGO:

“One of the things that I really love most about my job is the research part of it. My mom’s a retired professor so I tend to approach my roles at first from the prospective of an academic almost. So, I studied a lot. It’s kind of hard to articulate the level of preparation that we all had to do for this film because so much of it was emotional and psychological preparation. It’s hard to talk about because we all had to go into a part of American history that is so dark and complicated and fraught with the past sins of this country.”

ON WHAT SHE WOULD BE IF SHE WASN’T AN ACTRESS:

“If I wasn’t an actress, I would probably be a teacher. Either an elementary school teacher or a yoga teacher. Both of which I did when I was living in New York pursuing a career in acting. I liked doing both of those things very much. I think it would surprise people to know that what I really wanted to do as a child was to be the woman in the Shamu show at Sea World. And the big joke in my family is that I started taking Marine Biology and I was like, forget the whale, I’ll just be on stage by myself.”

ON HER DIET:

“I am not a vegan, but I like vegan protein shakes. I mix them with coconut water instead of regular water. That’s my secret to having them taste better.”

ON HER GUILTY PLEASURE:

“I love popcorn. I could live on popcorn. The writers of Scandal have made my character Olivia Pope have a similar relationship with popcorn. But I don’t mind because I get to eat popcorn at work.”

ABOUT SCANDAL:

At the end of the first episode, she’s crying in a coat closet alone,” says Kerry about her character Olivia Pope. “I think that’s what a lot of us are dealing with in our lives—that we feel like we have to be so tough and so strong and have it all figured out. We live in a world where we do have the ability to be smart, bold, professional, talented women. But we also are vulnerable human beings, you know?”

ON HER POLITICAL INVOLVEMENT:

“I am part of the president’s committee of the Arts and Humanities so I do work in Washington, but I don’t do what Olivia Pope does and I certainly don’t have her kind of relationship with the White House. I would never run for office. We get far enough rejection as actors.”

Girl is getting it!

Hayden Panettiere Could Be The Next Carrie Underwood

Hayden Panettiere, star of the upcoming TV show Nashville, graces the October cover of Women’s Health (on newsstands today) and shares what makes her feel beautiful, inside and out – from how she keeps her skin radiating from head to toe, to her phenomenal set of pipes and her soft spot for giant sea creatures.

Check out the highlights from the interview below.

ON HAVING INNER AND OUTER BEAUTY:

“People can tell when you’re happy with being you and when you’re not. It’s only cheesy because it’s true. As I’ve gotten older and grown into my body, I’ve started realizing that the way you carry yourself and that light coming out of your eyes are the most attractive things about you.”

ON WHY SHE DOES HER OWN VOCALS FOR NASHVILLE:

“I always said if I was ever going to do music again, I’d do country. There’s honesty and truth in it.”

ON THE CAMARADERIE AMONG COUNTRY SINGERS:

“L.A. is more cutthroat, but in Nashville they want you to do well. You see it with the stars. When they’re performing, they’re all cheering for each other.”

ON BEING PHYSICALLY CRITICIZED BY THE MEDIA AT 16:

“I was mortified. It gave me such body dysmorphia for so long. But I remember reminding myself that beauty is an opinion, not a fact. And it has always made me feel better.”

ON GETTING OVER HER FEAR OF THE OCEAN TO SWIM WITH HUMPBACK WHALES:

“When you’re there and you’re in it, it’s less intimidating. ”

ON HOW SHE AMPS UP HER BEAUTY ROUTINE:

“You wouldn’t wear baggy clothes on top and baggy on the bottom. If I do smoky eyes, I go for soft pink lips.”

ON HER WORK WITH THE WHALEMAN FOUNDATION:

“I like to dedicate myself wholeheartedly to a cause so that I have more impact. My goal is to shed light on the beauty of the ocean and how important it is for our planet.”

ON HOW SHE CREATIVELY WORKS OUT:

“My best friend, Amy, has an elevator phobia, so we always take the stairs. We will walk 12 flights. It’s less embarrassing than getting into an elevator with her.”

ON DETOXIFYING HER BODY AND MIND WITH BIKRAM YOGA:

“It can be tough, but you’re sweating out toxins and water weight.”

ON COUNTING HER BLESSINGS, NOT CALORIES:

“I find out that when I’m overly concerned about what I eat, I stress out my body and put on weight.”

Liam Hemsworth Thinks He Could Beat Usain Bolt

Liam Hemsworth, star of the Expendables 2 and Miley Cyrus’s fiance, opens up in the September issue of Women’s Health on who he calls for advice, his hidden talent, and the best way to make up after a fight.

Check out the highlights below.

When asked…

Who do you call for advice? …
“Most of the time if I’m in a pickle I’ll call one of my brothers. They’ve usually got somewhat uplifting advice. One is six and half years older and one is eight years older, so they’ve probably lived through whatever my problem is.”

Any hidden talents?
“I’m a really fast runner. No one can catch me – I’m quick. I’m also a really good cook. I’ll do anything Italian, life spaghetti or pizzas. I studied cooking all through high school.”

What’s the best way to make up after a fight?
“Put yourself in their shoes, whatever the situation.”

Ryan Lochte Reveals His Celebrity Crush, How He Approaches Women

All he would have to do is approach a girl in his Speedos!

Olympics Gold-medal winning swimmer Ryan Lochte opens up in the July/August issue of Women’s Health (on newsstands now) on how he approaches a woman, what confuses him about the opposite sex, what women look hottest in and more.

Check out the highlights below:

When asked…

When you see a woman you want to meet, you …
“Make eye contact. Some guys keep staring, but I’ll give a wink and come back later, because it keeps her thinking.”

What confuses you about the opposite sex?
“It’s impossible to know what you’re thinking. If I could have one superpower, I’d be like Mel Gibson in What Women Want, where he reads women’s minds.”

What do women look hottest in?
“One of my long-sleeve button-down shirts and that’s all. The second hottest thing: white jeans.”

Wowsers. Ryan seems so damn mysterious, doesn’t he?!

Zac Efron Loves Lips!

So, kiss, kiss!

Zac Efron is now promoting The Lucky One, which is out in theaters today btw, and he does talk about who could be his next “lucky one”. Yes, in the May issue of Women’s Health, Zac talks about his girliest quality, his favorite female body part, and his biggest regret.

And we’ve got the highlights of the interview for you below.

ON HOW HE APPROACHES A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN:

“So do you like High School Musical?” I’m kidding! If the situation’s right, buy someone a drink. Think on your toes, use what’s around you, and come up with something organic and fun.

ON WHETHER HE HAS ANY GIRLIE QUALITIES:

Sometimes I take a while to get ready to go out. It’s not excessive, but it takes me some time to find clean clothes that match.

ON HIS FAVORITE FEMALE BODY PART:

Lips. Because they smile. Andy they’re fun to kiss.

ON HIS BIGGEST REGRET:

Not going to college.

ON THE BEST COMPLIMENT HE’S EVER RECEIVED:

A woman called me interesting once, and it kind of blew my mind. She said, “You’re one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met,” and I was like, Wow. I’m still high on that one.

Brooklyn Decker Eats Like She’s 12, Booty Dances To Taylor Swift Songs

Brooklyn Decker covers the May 2012 issue of Women’s Health magazine looking gorgeous per usual. Brooklyn once again proves the supermodel stereotype true. Just check out the highlights from the interview and you’ll know what I mean.

ON HER HUSBAND ANDY RODDICK:

“Being married to Andy has given me a new appreciation for my body. He’s taught me that it’s not how thin you are that matters. It’s how your body performs, how it endures wear and tear.”

ON WORKING OUT WITH HER HUBBY:

“One day when we were in London, Andy took me to a track behind a high school. We did a kind of hopscotch down the track, more drills over hurdles, and then shuttle runs.”

ON TRYING TO LEARN TENNIS FROM HER HUBBY:

“He tried to give me a lesson once, and I ended up hitting all the tennis balls over the fence and smashing my racket because I was so frustrated. I told him, ‘You don’t teach me how to play tennis, and I won’t teach you how to model in a bathing suit.’ And so far, it’s worked.”

ON THE IMPORTANCE OF EXERCISING WHEN SHE IS TIRED:

“If I stop wanting to work out, then I’m going to be some serious trouble.”

ON HER FOOD PHILOSOPHY:

“I try not to think about foods that are too fattening or too sugary. I always think about why it’s important to eat the best foods. By not obsessing over the bad, I tend to stick with the good.”

ON HER EATING HABITS:

“[I eat] like a 12-year-old.”

ON CHALLENGING HERSELF:

“My director on Battleship, Peter Berg, said that as much as I work out, he wanted me to be strong. He took me to a boxing gym in Santa Monica. After six or seven minutes of sparring, I was completely winded. But I was also exhilarated because it was a new workout that I had never before experienced. And it’s one of the best deals you’ll find. This place charges around $15 for an hour. You learn how to punch, and I promise, you and your muscles will never forget it. I love working my butt off to prove I can do something new. If I don’t keep looking for challenges, life gets sort of dull.”

ON DANCING AS EXERCISE:

“Yesterday I returned from a trip to Australia and Munich, so I resorted to my secret, sure-fire method to get my body moving again. I blasted three Taylor Swift songs as loud as I could and started running in place and doing some stupid booty dancing. Sometimes I’ll watch a music video of a great performer like Beyoncé and try to follow her choreography. Yeah, maybe I look ridiculous, but dancing gets your energy up a lot better than running on a treadmill or pedaling a stationary bike.”

ON KAYAKING:

“Whenever I’m near a body of water, I love to rent a kayak. It’s easy to use, and you not only get a cardio workout but also do a vigorous upper body workout, pushing and pulling your paddle through the water. And let’s face it: The view is always a lot better than the one you can get in a gym.”

ON WORKING OUT WITH FRIENDS:

“When I was a bridesmaid for my best friend’s wedding in North Carolina, the two of us and the other bridesmaids hired a Pilates instructor to do a private class for us the morning of the wedding. We were able to play our favorite music and laugh and talk while working out. It was the perfect way to start a day, and ever since I’ve tried to come up with workouts that I can do with my girlfriends.”

ON HER FAVORITE YOGA MOVE:

“One of my favorite moves is to lie on the ground on my back, a yoga block propped under my lower back, and then pull my legs up while spreading out my knees, making my legs look just like a butterfly. The move opens up my hips and stretches my back at the same time.”

ON MAKING NEW FRIENDS THROUGH EXERCISE, LIKE HER BATTLESHIP COSTAR TAYLOR KITSCH:

“You create a bonding experience that you never would have had. My hike with Taylor Kitsch [her love interest in Battleship] was very strenuous, and we needed ropes to get to the top of the summit. But when we were finished, we knew each other a lot better than if we had just had the usual dinner and drinks night. Plus, no matter how much time you spend in the weight room, you simply can’t get a better workout for your legs than when you go for a long hike.”

ON FITTING IN ON HER CORE WORKOUTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY:

“Seriously, I will drop to the floor and do a plank anywhere, anytime—in my kitchen, next to my bed, in a hotel room. Straight planks on my elbows or hands and then the all-important side planks and side plank crunches.”

ON GIRL CRUSHES:

“When I see a woman who’s overcome obstacles, who’s done something with her life, I want to say to her, ‘Wow, you’re cool. Your career is awesome, and I’d love to hang out with you.’ It’s a respect thing.”

ON KRISTEN WIIG:

“Her sense of humor is something we can all relate to. She’s like the inner soul of every girl alive. She doesn’t care about preserving her beauty on camera—and she is very beautiful. She’s very real.”

ON LANA DEL REY:

“She has such an individual singing style—a kind of smoky, old-school jazzy voice combined with a hip-hop vibe. It’s music I’ve never really heard before.”

ON ERIN ANDREWS:

“You have to love a beautiful woman who knocks down all the stereotypes and becomes one of the country’s best sportscasters. She had to fight for years to be taken seriously, and she did it without once losing her sense of humor or her great enthusiasm.”

ON MARISA MILLER:

“When I was a rookie in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Marisa had already been in it for years. But unlike a lot of models who get very territorial, Marisa rooted for the new girls. If there was a job she couldn’t do, she’d pass it on to me. That’s real grace.”

ON CHARLIZE THERON:

“Well, duh. It’s not just her breathtaking beauty that stuns me, it’s her ability to act completely against type, to defy everyone’s expectations, and to go for roles that she just finds interesting, not because an agent or manager tells her the parts will be good for her career.”

Josh Bowman Sleeps Naked

Josh Bowman is a hottie. Who knew? The Revenge star Josh Bowman opens up in the April issue of Women’s Health about his favorite sleeping attire, the secret to a successful relationship, and the best love advice he’s ever received.

We’ve got the highlights (but not the drool bucket) below.

ON THE FIRST THING HE NOTICES ABOUT A WOMAN:

“I’m a big eye man, because you can look into her eyes and see part of her personality.”

ON THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIP:

“For sure, honesty and respect. And fun! Fun is so important. A good sense of humor will get you everywhere. The last thing you want after a day in the office writing about some silly actor on Revenge is to go home to a boyfriend who’s moaning at you.”

ON THE BEST PIECE OF LOVE ADVICE HE’S EVER BEEN GIVEN:

“Women like men who listen. We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen twice as much as we speak.”

ON WOMEN HIDING MAJOR SECRETS FROM HIM:

“In relationships, you want to be secure but not know what’s coming next. Everyone has to have secrets, but if I’m asked a question, I’ll answer honestly.”

ON WHAT HE SLEEPS IN:

“Nothing.”

Well got damn. There you have it.

Kristen Bell Loves Butts

I just adore Kristen Bell. She is on the cover of Women’s Health magazine looking fierce per usual. But what is it that I love about her so much? She has a subtle quirkiness about her (think Anna Faris but not so damn annoying) and maybe it is just the facial expressions she makes that are so damn adorable. Or perhaps she just reminds me of myself. Yep. That’s it. Love you Kristen like I love myself!

At any rate, the star of the House of Lies and the upcoming Farrelly brothers comedy Movie 43, graces the April cover of Women’s Health and opens up about going vegan, her co-star’s butt, and what it’s like to work with her fiancé Dax Shepard on their upcoming movie, Outrun. Peep the highlights below.

ON BUTTS:

“My favorite things on the planet. I want two round cupcakes, always. I kicked my buns and abs sets into high gear when I knew I’d have to be in my bar and underwear on House of Lies. But I don’t show my crack! All the Mr. Skins of the world are like, “ooh, Kristen gets naked!’ I’m like, ‘Dream on!’”

ON HER HOUSE OF LIES CO-STAR DON CHEADLE’S BUTT:

“If you had those beautiful chocolate bun-cakes, you’d show’em too, let’s be honest.”

ON WORKING WITH FIANCE, DAX SHEPARD ON THEIR UPCOMING MOVIE OUTRUN:

“I would watch him walk back to the monitor and yell things such as ‘Action!’ or ‘Cut!’ and I’d just go, ‘And you expect me to work when you’re doing cute things around me all day? How am I supposed to focus?

ON FIANCE DAX SHEPARD’S COOKING:

“He makes this delicious spaghetti dish… about twice a year. I wish he cooked more.[Actually] I don’t wish he cooked more. He’s a very good cook, but I’m quite territorial in the kitchen. It’s like, if I went outside and fixed the car, he’d be like, ‘Whaaat?’”

ON VEGAN FOOD:

“[It’s] fart powder. [It] makes you gassy.”

ON HER AND FIANCE DAX SHEPARD’S BEST FRIENDS:

“We decided to create the first four-way marriage, where our couple has married their couple.”

ON HER RELATIONSHIP WITH FIANCE DAX:

“We nauseate ourselves with how mushy we are.”

The April 2012 issue hits newsstands on Tuesday, March 13th.

Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks is into prison rodeos, beef and baseball

Actress Elizabeth Banks, who stars in the upcoming movies Man on the Ledge, Hunger Games, and What to Expect When You’re Expecting, graces the March cover of Women’s Health, out on newsstands now! The beautiful actress spilled her secrets on filming her upcoming movies, the best career advice she ever received and how she stays healthy (and her splurges) to keep her healthy figure. And believe it or not, Elizabeth is also celebrating her 38th birthday on February 10th! Get it, girl!

Highlights from the interview below.

ON HER UPCOMING ACTION FLICK, MAN ON A LEDGE:

“[It was] a great ride of a movie. I got to shoot a gun and stand on a five-foot ledge 22 stories above Manhattan.”

ON THE HUNGER GAMES:

“Anytime you can work on something that’s really entertaining but also has an intellectual idea at heart, it’s very exciting.”

ON THE TRAITS THAT MAKE HER POPULAR WITH MEN:

“I can hang with the dudes because I love beef and baseball and driving fast and flirting. I understand where men are coming from and I’m interested in typically male endeavors. But I can also wear the short skirt and cheerlead.”

ON THE SECRET TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE:

“Don’t embarrass your husband. Unfortunately, everything I do embarrasses him. But he’s very accepting. I’m onscreen making out with other men! I know I could never be married to an actor.”

ON HOW SHE’S STAYED HAPPILY MARRIED:

“Number one, I never check any previous Google searches that my husband did. I don’t want to know those things and, more than that, I don’t want to confirm the things I think I know! It’s good to maintain that mystery and trust.”

ON RUNNING FOR OFFICE:

“I’m a good role model. I have an amazing marriage and it will be long lasting. I think I’m a good mom. I could run for office, no problem, because there are no skeletons in my closet. Not that I would run for office…”

ON BECOMING A MOTHER THROUGH SURROGACY:

“It helped that other moms had said that once they had their babies, they forgot they were ever pregnant. So once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision.”

ON HER TOP FITNESS TRICK:

“I do this system called TRX. It was developed by a Navy SEAL and is basically a simple cord that you can wrap around something anywhere, anytime, and you use your body weight as resistance. We installed one in our home gym, but you can also attach it to a tree. It’s very easy to travel with.”

ON WHAT SHE CALLS “AWESOME”:

“Prison rodeos. Google this shit! I’m dying to go!”

ON WHAT MAKES HER LAUGH:

“You’ll never see me in a T-shirt that has the body of a skinny lady wearing a bikini. But that fact that it exists really tickles me. And I think it’s hilarious when a fat lady wears it. Fat lady wearing it, hilarious. Guy in it, even funnier.”
