Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

20/20 Anchor Elizabeth Vargas Goes To Rehab For Alcoholism

20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas checked herself into a rehabilitation center over the weekend to seek help with her alcohol dependency.

“While on vacation this weekend, I decided to return to a recovery center,” Vargas said in a statement to Us Weekly. “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process.”

The journalist recently spent time before in rehab this past November, saying in a statement that she “was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol” and thanked her family and her colleagues at ABC News for their support. She returned back to work in January 2014, being real about her struggles and her husband Marc Cohn‘s request for her to seek help.

“I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down, and for that I am ashamed and sorry,” Elizabeth said in her statement this weekend. “I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time.”

ABC News believes that Elizabeth will return to the show, but acknowledges that her health is the main focus writing now. The network said in a statement, “Nothing is more important than Elizabeth’s health and well-being and we stand squarely behind her. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and her family and we look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return.”

Alcoholism truly is a disease, and I hope that Elizabeth is able to overcome it. It’s hard, but she’s strong and can do it. Best wishes to her on her journey.

Will Amanda Bynes be Home for the Holidays?

Amanda Bynes has been at rehab in Malibu since September, but it looks like her time there may soon come to a close- just in time for the holidays.

TMZ reports that sources connected with her treatment say Amanda’s mental health and meds have been stabilized to the extent that her doctors will let her leave- releasing her to her mom who will keep and supervise Amanda at the family’s house.

All of this could go down next sometime within the next month, meaning Amanda may get to spend the holidays with her family.

It was TMZ that first reported Amanda’s previous move from the UCLA psych ward to the rehab facility in Malibu. At that time, Amanda was apparently “freaking out” being in the psych ward, which was causing her treatment to suffer.

This time, it’s not the sterile environment of the psych ward that is thwarting her treatment, but the simple fact that she’s “going stir crazy” because she’s not allowed to go outside thanks to paparazzi swarming the place, compromising everyone’s privacy.

Here’s hoping being home is the next step needed to help Amanda keep improving.

Leann Rimes Heads To Treatment

Leann Rimes has had enough! Girlfriend has checked herself into treatment for emotional issues. Who knew her life could be so stressful? Cripes, it’s not like she would have to worry about her husband possibly straying on her or anything. Her rep Marcel Pariseau confirmed the news to PEOPLE magazine saying, “LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

Rimes made sure to get her birthday celebration in first as she checked into treatment on Wednesday (her birthday was on Tuesday).

So why the hell is she so stressed? How is she going to get better other than probably a prescription for Xanax?

Leann said herself, “This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be. All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”

Anxiety and stress? Girlfriend, been there and done that! Good for her for going in and getting herself some help.

Even though he is probably a part of the got damn problem, Eddie Cibrian is supporting his wife. He said, “My wife is the most remarkable and courageous woman I know. I am so proud of her for having the strength to finally take some time for herself. I will be with her every step of the way.”

Don’t worry though peeps, if you have tickets to see Leann perform in September she will be keeping her gigs. Leann’s rep said, “The facility has granted her permission to keep her weekend tour obligations, as LeAnn doesn’t want to disappoint her fans. She will report back after each weekend.”

Get better soon Leann and enjoy your mind vacay!

REPORT: Demi Moore Weighs Under 100 pounds

A couple of days ago, Demi Moore checked into the Cirque Lodge rehab center in Utah for anorexia and addiction to prescription pills and so far from what we understand, the progress for Demi has been slow-going as she may not have accepted that she has issues. What is the first step, people? All together now…”Accepting that there is a problem” and this is definitely something that our beloved Freckles has been unable to do during her recent stay at the Lodge. I suppose having Courtney Love as a sobriety coach isn’t exactly helping matters either. Here’s hoping that the program works for Demi.

Our friends at RadarOnline.com are reporting that when Moore checked into the center she was not allowed to see how much she weighed. And that totally makes sense as why would you allow an anorexic access to a scale anyways?

Radar says,

“It’s common treatment practice at Cirque to not allow patients that are being treated for an eating disorder to see how much they weigh when they step on the scale. Their weights are taken everyday, sometimes several times a day to make sure that they aren’t losing weight while in treatment. Doctors at Cirque don’t want patients to fixate on their weight. Eating disorders are all about control, plain and simple. When someone is in the ravages of an eating disorder, their lives are typically out of control. The one thing someone with an eating disorder believes they can control in their lives, is food. Demi isn’t being forced fed or chastised for not wanting to eat though. The counselors at Cirque are working on giving Demi a safe and controlled environment, she is getting the best care possible. She is also dealing with an addiction to prescription medication, and she has a comprehensive team taking care of her.”

A source said of Demi’s anorexia and her weight of under 100 pounds, “People just say Demi should just eat something, well if it were that easy, she would. Anorexia is a very serious disease, and treatment can take three months before a patient begins to see success. She will likely stay at Cirque for at least 60 days. She doesn’t have a roommate currently, but that could change though as she advances through the program.”

Time will tell!
