Ed Sheeran Compares Love To Cheesecake

edsheeran

Ed Sheeran is one of our favorite redheads. He doesn’t only write amazing love songs – he gives the best love advice too. Before embarking on his worldwide arena tour, Ed took a break to share his top tips to finding a perfect match.

Via Seventeen:

Ed Sheeran on how love is like cheesecake:
“Sometimes I wish I could go back and give my 17-year-old self love advice. I’d tell myself: ‘Ease into things slowly.’ If you have a piece of cheesecake, you don’t want to scarf it all down at once; you want to enjoy it. The same goes for love – don’t rush. Take time to figure out what you need in a relationship.”

It’s okay to be a little freaked out!
“I call this scared love. It sounds bad, but it’s not. I think we all get into situations where we’re terrified about letting ourselves fall in love because we don’t want to get hurt. But when you’re already friends and trust that person, that nervous feeling in the pit of your stomach is healthy. It means that there is something there – a deeper connection – that might be worth it. You just have to let yourself make the fall.”

Sheeran on the importance of being yourself:
“Quirks might seem weird when you’re young, but they make you stand out when you’re older and that’s an important thing.”

SCREAM ON CUE NOW: One Direction Is On the Cover of Seventeen’s Hot Guy Issue

1d

Your favorite boy band—aka the BIGGEST boy band in the world—is on the cover of Seventeen’s November Hot Guy issue!

From the day they were discovered on X-Factor and formed One Direction, Harry, Niall, Zayn, Louis, and Liam have taken the music world by storm, breaking records and kickstarting the whole fangirling phenomenon. Before 1D got into the biz, no other fan base was as loyal or as viral. #Directioner set the stage for other huge fandoms to come, like #Swifters, #Arianators, #Lovatics, and #Selanators. Every single album they’ve put out has debuted at number one, and their next one, Four, is bound to do the same. That’s impressive, and that’s why Seventeen thinks that 1D is arguably the most powerful boy band in history (not to mention the cutest!).

On being featured on the cover of Seventeen’s Hot Guy Issue, 1D’s Niall Horan said, “Our fans mean the world to us and we want to thank them for supporting us unconditionally on this crazy, amazing ride!”

Learn more about the guys’ wild success—and how Seventeen readers can win a trip to Universal Orlando to see them perform!—when the November issue hits stands on October 21st.

I’m not going to lie, they are cutie patooties and I do like one or two (okay, maybe even 3 or 4) One Direction songs.

Bethany Mota Talks YouTube Success for Seventeen

Seventeen magazine is going to be the first major women’s magazine to dedicate an issue to big stars on YouTube, including beauty and fashion YouTuber Bethany MotaBethany has been a huge success with her own channel dedicated to beauty, fashion and DIY tutorials, gaining over 7 million subscribers! Soon the YouTuber will also be featured on Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars as well.

Featured on the cover of the mag, Bethany talked about her success story and her hope for other girls in the world. Check out some of the highlights below!

How being bullied inspired Bethany  to start filming beauty videos when she was 13:
“It was so cool seeing girls being positive and spreading happiness. At first, I made beauty videos that were like everyone else’s –- I’d try to act perfect. But then I realized it might be more fun if I was just myself. So I showed my silly side and kept in the bloopers. I liked those videos way more, and people appreciated that realness.”

What it’s been like to grow up on YouTube:
“I think it’s taught me to be a lot more self-motivated and has taught me how to encourage myself and not rely on a teacher or a boss telling me what to do. I’m my own boss. My biggest thing to overcome has been not being afraid to be different. It’s safer to do what everyone else is doing, but it pays off way more to be yourself.”

Her advice for other girls who are trying to find their place in the world:
“You have to be your own motivator! A lot of teens say they’re bored. Before I got on YouTube, I’d say the same thing. But there is always something you can be doing. If YouTube isn’t your thing, maybe it’s a sport or something else you’re good at. There’s always something you can be the best at –- you just have to look for it.”

You can check out Seventeen.com for more! I’ve checked out some of Bethany’s work, and she’s a very charismatic and real young woman who is making an impact doing what she loves. Go her!

Ariana Grande Talks Insecurities and Relationship with Her Father in Seventeen

Ariana Grande is, no doubt, one of the biggest pop stars out in the industry right now! She’s killing the music scene with her own smash hit, “Problem,” a new amazing track with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj called, “Bang Bang,” and is set to release her album at the end of August! She’s on top of the world, but in a recent interview with Seventeen magazine, the singer was candid about her struggles, including her insecurities and her distant relationship with her father.

Check out some of the highlights below!

On putting herself out there and being totally exposed…
“It’s tough to spend some of the most important years of your life in front of so many strangers who want to pick you apart. Insecurity has been the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome. I think everyone my age struggles with that because everyone strives for approval and wants to feel loved.”

On how she gets over her insecurities…
“I focus on what’s important. My grandpa is sick, so I focus on him every day. I’m having the biggest song of my career so far, and all I can think about is my grandpa, because that’s what’s important to me.”

Her grandfather, unfortunately, recently passed away, and Ariana Grande released a statement to the mag, saying,

This interview took place before I lost my grandfather. Reading it back now is, of course, very hard but I’m so grateful that I spoke briefly about some of the wisdom he shared with me in this interview. I hope the Seventeen readers find it helpful and can relate.

On the biggest lesson she’s learned in the past few years…
“Being okay with not having the answers to everything. I feel like for the first time in my life, I’m really okay. I used to freak out about everything all the time. I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, somebody said this!’ Everything used to be such a big deal! But now, I feel I can handle everything that comes my way with a calm energy.”

On the toughest thing she has ever had to deal with…
“Falling out of touch with my dad. It’s private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

I absolutely love this girl, and love her even more after reading this interview. She seems so sweet, yet real, and her talent is impeccable (so excited for her new album)! Keeping her and her family in my thoughts and prayers with the passing of her grandfather.

Bella Thorne Basically Changed Her Boyfriend

June-July 2014 - Bella Thorne

Via Seventeen:

Bella Thorne appears on the cover of Seventeen’s June/July 2014 cover (on stands May 20th). For the actress, the next three months are all about trying new things. After finishing the final season of the Disney Channel’s hit show Shake It Up, this summer Thorne will star in her first major movie, Blended, alongside Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. In addition, she will release her first album, continue working on a fiction series called Autumn Falls, and appear in ad campaigns for Candie’s and Neutrogena (she is the newest and youngest ever Neutrogena girl!).

In her interview with Seventeen, Thorne discusses her ambition, her relationship with boyfriend Tristan Klier, her love for Blended costar Drew Barrymore and more.

On her ambition: “I get my ambition from my father. [Editor’s note: he passed away when Bella was 9.] There was no stopping him; it didn’t matter what anybody said. For me, I feel like it’s a cool way to bring him into my life because he did great things in his life, and I want to emulate that.”

On her relationship with Shake It Up costar, Zendaya: “The truth is we are so different, there is no competition. And when people tried to compare us or turn us against each other, we’d just talk about it, and then everything was cool. We love each other.”

On her relationship with boyfriend, Tristan Klier: “Tristan was not a relationship guy before me. On our first date, he thought I was going to be just like the other girls he had met who would always give it up and kiss him right away…I waited six weeks – I had to make sure he was in it to win it.”

On Blended costar, Drew Barrymore: “Drew [Barrymore] is so positive and beautiful on the inside and out. On the set of Blended, she always had a smile and looked at the positive side of things. I learned from that, and I think other girls should too.”

Emma Stone Talks Spiderman 2, Body Confidence, and Handling Haters in Seventeen

Emma Stone is on fire right now! In an interview with Seventeen.com, the actress opens up about her role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, body confidence, and handling the haters!

Check out some of the highlights below, and head over to Seventeen.com for more!

On how her character, Gwen Stacy, has inspired her…

“Gwen has a clarity that I love. It’s really inspiring. She’s less anxious than I am; I make decisions from my gut and if my gut is unclear, I overthink things and question myself. I aspire to be more like Gwen every day.”

On dealing with haters…

“Sometimes it’s really easy to shrug it off and other times, things have pinched more. I think most of us are like that, right? Someone lobs a snide remark your way, and sometimes you can laugh about it, while other times you can actually feel the sting. I’m actively working hard on learning to appreciate yourself no matter what. If what someone else says can easily derail you, it means your sense of self isn’t that firmly established in the first place. It’s an inside job. You’re beautiful and worthy and totally unique. People insult each other based on their own insecurities — even though it may feel personal, it really never is. Really. Seriously.”

On body confidence…
“It can be really challenging in today’s world for anyone — especially girls and women — to feel good about their bodies. No matter how things look from the outside, we can all be super critical of ourselves and of our image in the mirror. I’ve seen articles or comments that have addressed my weight, or ‘caving to pressure to be thin.’ Keeping weight on is a struggle for me — especially when I’m under stress, and especially as I’ve gotten older. That’s the way my genes have decided to go, and things will change as time goes on, as does everything. So when completely untrue statements are made about me or my health, of course a part of me wants to defend. Thing is, people have a right to imagine what they want to imagine. My job at those moments is to tell myself the truth. Am I taking care of myself in a healthy way? Am I respecting myself and being responsible? And over and over, I answer yes to that question. Then I remind myself to be kind to myself, and as slightly ridiculous as it may sound, to treat myself in the same gentle way I’d want to treat a daughter of mine. It really helps.”

On what makes her feel powerful…
“Wanting something, putting all my energy toward it, working hard and following through. New things I never knew I could do. Commitment. Making somebody laugh—there’s no better feeling than that.”

I LOVE Emma Stone! I think she’s an incredible actress, and also she’s just really, really cool. She’s definitely a great role model, so it was great that she was able to do this interview and inspire some teenage girls out there!

‘Pretty Little Liars’ Troian Bellisario Opens Up About Self Harm and Eating Disorder

‘Pretty Little Liars’ star Troian Bellisario recently opened up to Seventeen, putting to bed any thought that she had a pretty perfect life like her PLL character, Spencer Hastings. The 28-year-old actress got real in the magazine’s February issue, opening up about her painful past, and struggles being on the show.

“I started self-harming when I was a junior,” Troian admitted. “I would withhold food or withhold going out with my friends, based on how well I did that day in school.…I didn’t know what was right and what was wrong, so I think I created this bizarre system of checks and balances to create order in my world. But it really backfired.”

The actress has made a name for herself on the hit ABC Family show, but still struggles with finding her place. “Sometimes I feel like I’m trying too hard, like I don’t belong,” she admitted. “I just look around at Lucy [Hale], Shay [Mitchell], and Ashley [Benson], and I’m just like, ‘Why am I on this show?’ Sometimes I’ve felt like a fraud. Like, I’m not like these other girls – I don’t dress like that and don’t know how to do my hair. The minute I’m off that stage, I try to get as ‘me’ as possible. I do that by piling on my black eyeliner, and I put on my ripped tights. Dressing like myself again helps.”

Just goes to show that we don’t know all there is to know about our beloved celebs. Sidenote: Troian doesn’t look anywhere CLOSE to 28! She’s an incredible actress! Definitely my favorite on PLL. You can read more of the interview in the February issue of Seventeen which has already hit newsstands. ‘Pretty Little Liars’ comes back to ABC Family this Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. EST!

Kylie Jenner’s Boyfriend Is…Not Jaden Smith

kyliejennerPhoto credit: Dewey Nicks/Seventeen

Kylie Jenner appears on the annual issue of Seventeen Prom (on newsstands December 25th). In her interview with the magazine, Jenner spills her prom fashion and beauty tips and tricks so every girl can rule her prom. She also discusses the importance of confidence, her ideal prom date and how she’d raid her sisters’ closets for the occasion as well as her love of dancing. And well, Jaden Smith is NOT her boyfriend, okay?

Via Seventeen:

Own your confidence: “Since I was 9 years old, I’ve been in the entertainment business, and everyone is always telling me what – and what not – to do…you just get a tough skin and have to not care about what people think or you will not end up in a good place.”

kylie1

Choose your date very wisely: “I don’t have a boyfriend, but I do really want that boyfriend prom experience. I would want to go with someone who’s not afraid, or doesn’t think that he’s too cool, to show up at my house with a rose corsage. It would be nice for the guy to come over and be respectful and nice while my mom takes prom pics. But if I couldn’t find a boyfriend, I would want to go with one of my best guy friends, like Jaden [Smith]. I know I’d have fun with him – he makes me laugh and he is a great dancer.”

Don’t break the budget: “I borrow things from my sisters’ closets all of the time. For prom, I’d probably raid Khloe’s for shoes (she has the best shoes!), and Kim’s for dresses and handbags because I really admire her style a lot… You don’t have to go to some fancy restaurant for dinner either. Food is food, right? I’d definitely be at In-N-Out for a burger!”

Don’t be afraid to ask a guy to dance: “I love to dance, so I’m definitely always the first one out on the dance floor. And when it comes to guys, I don’t get shy. So if I wasn’t with a date, I wouldn’t have a problem going up to a guy and just saying, ‘Are you gonna dance with me?’ Trust me, it’ll work for you too! Guys like it when you aren’t afraid to make the first move.”

Hunger Games’ WILLOW SHIELDS is SEVENTEEN’s November Cover star

willow-shields

The November cover of Seventeen magazine features Willow Shields, one of the stars of the highly anticipated movie Hunger Games, Catching Fire (she plays Primrose Everdeen). On select newsstands today, Shields opens up to Seventeen about her relationship with co-stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth.

Let me just say I absolutely cannot wait to see this flick, yo! And big kudos to this girl for the nice role.

Check out highlights from the interview via Seventeen magazine below:

On her Role Model:

Jennifer Lawrence is an incredible actress—I aspire to be like that.

On her Relationship to Josh and Liam:

They’re like my brothers, except they don’t fight with me. Liam is quiet but sweet and Josh is chatty.

We all know why Liam is quiet…uber embarrassed much? Or down in the dumps? Or just downright fed up? Could be all of the above. We hear ya loud and clear Liam! We’ll never look at a foam finger the same way either!

For more on Willow, go to www.seventeen.com/Willow and pick up the November issue of Seventeen, on select newsstands now.
