Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Designing Women’s Meshach Taylor Passes Away

Designing Women’s Meshach Taylor passed away this weekend. The actor was 67.

Known for his character Anthony Bouvier, an employee at Julia’s Sugarbaker interior design firm, Taylor was a show favorite.

His death was confirmed by his agent, and his family left a note on the actor’s Facebook page, which reads: “It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend, has begun his grand transition.”

The actor passed away at his home in Altadena. He was under hospice care at the time, as he battled a terminal illness. His agent said that he passed with his family at his side.

Apart from his role on Designing Women, Taylor was in the short-lived CBS comedy Dave’s World. He was also the awesome window designer Hollywood Montrose in “Mannequin” (the movie circa 1987) with Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy.

My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Andy Williams, RIP

One of the most renown singers of the 1960s, known for his signature tune Moon River, has passed away.

Andy Williams was 84.

He was one of the perennial favorites of the era, with a successful string of hit albums and even a TV show. He was regularly mentioned alongside the likes of Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Elvis Presley. He was nominated for five Grammy awards and was the host of The Grammys for several years. Andy Williams was known for his hard work ethic and was quoted with the following…

“The old cliche says that if you can remember the 1960s, you weren’t there. Well, I was there all right, but my memory of them is blurred — not by any drugs I took but by the relentless pace of the schedule I set myself.”

Famous for his good looks almost as much as his easy tenor, Williams survived many of the stars of his era and continued on long after many of them had retired or fell by the wayside.

In late 2011, Williams announced that he was diagnosed with bladder cancer but would not let it slow him down one bit. He returned to the stage in 2012, celebrating a milestone 75th year in show business. Williams died Tuesday night at his home in Branson, Missouri.

RIP: Ernest Borgnine

Legendary actor Ernest Borgnine, known for his role in the movie “Marty,” passed away today at the age of 95.

Borgnine died of renal failure.

The Oscar-winning actor didn’t merely grace the big screen, the actor also graced the small screen, playing Quinton McHale in the 1960s show “McHale’s Navy. The actor himself served 10 years in the US Navy, with the last four served after re-enlisting when the US entered WWII.

RIP, Ernest Borgnine.

Bee Gees’ Robin Gibb Passes Away

It’s another sad day for music. Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees passed away after a long battle with liver cancer at the age of 62.

The Bee Gees, short for the Brothers Gibb, gave us the classic hits “Stayin Alive,” “Jive Talkin’,” and “Night Fever.” Their Saturday Night Fever soundtrack is credited with the revival of disco. The group consisted of Barry Gibb, the eldest, and twins Robin and Maurice Gibb. It was their tree-part harmonies that became their signature sound.

The family of the late singer released a statement:

“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.

Robin leaves behind his wife Dwina Murphy Gibb, four children, and brother/bandmate Barry Gibb.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends.
