Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

My Big Fat Greek Wedding Gets a Sequel!

Over a decade after its original release, looks like My Big Fat Greek Wedding is getting a sequel!

The film’s star and screenwriter, Nia Vardalos, announced today that a second movie is indeed in the works.  “Now that I’m experiencing motherhood, I’m ready to write the next chapter of my family story,” she said in a statement. “Of course, a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett [who played her fiance Ian Miller] again,” she joked. “One of these things is true.”

Nia will write the sequel, which Rita WilsonTom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman have signed on to produce. After the news was first announced, she tweeted, “Thank you for the love, yes the entire big fat family is invited back for the sequel.”

Nia starred as the unforgettable Toula Portokalos, the daughter of a huge Greek family, whose love life and career sucks, as she spends her days working in her family’s Greek restaurant. She eventually starts computer classes, gets a new job at her family’s travel agency, and meets the love of her life, Ian Miller. The movie did exceptionally well with a small budge of $5 million, bringing in $241.43 million at the domestic box office and an additional $127.3 million abroad, ultimately grossing $368.74 million.

In the 12 years since the film has been released, Nia has gone on to star in movies such as For a Good Time Call… and made cameos in TV shows including Grey’s Anatomy and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She also adopted a daughter Ilaria, 9, with her husband Ian Gomez in 2008, which she cites as an inspiration for the upcoming sequel.

The only question is will it do well? Have too many years passed, or will fans genuinely want to see a sequel. I’m excited regardless. I loved this movie. I thought it was so funny and cool when I first saw it. So even though it’s 12 years after the fact, I would be down to watch a sequel!

Do you think a sequel to My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a good idea, or should they shut that idea down?

CELEB SPOTTING: Cast of Clueless Reunites!

It’s been nineteen years since Cher Horowitz graced our screens in her short plaid suits (long live 90s fashion!), going through high school and showing just how totally clueless she really was. It was the perfect coming-of-age story, setting Clueless as a top-film in teen comedy forever!

This past Tuesday, Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash and Elisa Donovan were spotted in Hollywood for a Clueless reunion! The actresses joined together for the Los Angeles Film Fest’s free outdoor pre-festival screening of 1995’s “Clueless”. Director Amy Heckerling and costume designer Mona May joined the actresses for the event, which also included a Q&A session.

The male members of the cast were missing from the event.  Of course, watching the film always brings up memories ohe late Brittany Murphy, who played Tai. The actress died shockingly at age 32 in December 2009 of pneumonia, anemia and prescription drug intoxication.

Clueless is a 90’s classic, no matter how you feel about it! And now it’s on Netflix, so maybe in honor of this anniversary, I’ll watch Cher and Dionne grace my screen rocking their plaid once more. Hopefully everyone in the cast comes out for the big 20th anniversary next year! I’m Audi!

VIP Review: MoviePass

This post is for the movie lovers out there!  MoviePass is an all access pass to movie theaters nationwide.  For one flat monthly fee you will get access to all of the biggest releases in theaters! MoviePass works at 95% of theaters nationwide (Click here to find theaters near you). With the price of movie tickets skyrocketing, MoviePass is a great way to stretch your entertainment budget and stay up-to-date on all of the biggest and latest releases. The New York Times said:  “With MoviePass, see a movie a day without breaking the bank.”

How Does MoviePass work?

MoviePass is a simple to use service that allows you to cut the lines at the movie theaters. When you join MoviePass you will receive your very own MoviePass VIP card that you can use at 95% of movie theaters where major credit cards are accepted.  Simply…

1. Download the App (available on both iOS and Android)

2. Check into the theater and movie you want to see (you must be within 100 yards of the theater to do this).

3. Use your MoviePass VIP card to pick up your ticket at the kiosk.

Check out the video below to see just how easy MoviePass is to use!

MoviePass was featured as App of the Week in the New York Times and was also featured in WSJ, CNN, Los Angeles Times, Hollywood Reporter, Time Magazine just to name a few.

I loved how convenient it was to use. It’s basically a pre-paid card strictly for movies! You head to a ticket kiosk, pop in the VIP card, select your seat, enter your zip code, and voila, there’s your ticket! It’s that simple. It definitely beats waiting in line (which I HATE), and having to carry a bunch of cash for tickets. There is the one-movie-a-day restriction, but most people don’t have time to see movies back to back to back anyway.

I don’t think right now I see enough movies in a month to really use it on a regular basis, personally. However, for the those who see a good couple of movies a month, this is PERFECT for you! This is the card that’s greatfor the movie buffs who love heading out to the theater every weekend. The rate is $30 a month, which will balance itself out in the long run (movie tickets are getting more and more expensive these days). Sorry, you’ll still have to come out of pocket for that ridiculously-priced popcorn and soda, though.

Kevin Hart & Ice Cube’s “Ride Along” Breaks January and MLK Weekend Records

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube together brought the laughs and broke some records! Their movie “Ride Along” set the box office record for the biggest weekend opening in January history, grossing over $41 million. Over the MLK holiday weekend, the film is projected to bring in  $47.8 million, which will break another record for biggest MLK weekend opening ever!

The action-comedy has also received an “A” rating from audiences via CinemaScore. Though the movie just opened, there’s already supposedly a sequel in the works, that will go into production possibly in a few months!

This isn’t the last of Kevin in movies. In fact, things are only heating up! His romantic comedy About Last Night will hit theatres February 14 and Think Like a Man Too will debut this summer. In the midst of all of this success, the comedian is still very humble. He recently told The Mercury:

I still don’t know if I made it. I think the minute I think about it, is the minute I’ll go crazy. I don’t like addressing it. This is all a dream to me. That’s why I don’t go to sleep. I’m afraid if I close my eyes, when I wake up, this (film career) will be over. So I just stay up all the time.”

VIP readers, make sure you enter for your chance at a nice “Ride Along” prize pack …not too much time left!

Natalie Portman Directing First Feature Film in Jerusalem

Natalie Portman is working TRIPLE time for her next project! It’s been announced that the award-winning actress has received  a grant from the Jersualem Film Fund to direct a film adaptation of Israeli writer Amos Oz‘s memoir, A Tale of Love and Darkness. Not only that! The actress will star in the film as Oz’s troubled mother, AND write the screenplay!

The Jerusalem Film Fund awarded grants totaling nearly NIS 6 million to 11 new projects, out of 114 that were submitted. The fund was founded in 2008 to support films that are set in Jerusalem.

A Tale of Love and Darkness revolves around the author’s mother’s mental illness and his father’s attempts to help her during the 1940s. Filming in Jersualem is scheduled tentatively for January 2014.

Though this is her first time taking the helm for a feature film, Natalie has directed before. She’s been behind the camera for a couple of short films, as well as a segment for 2009’s New York, I Love You.

Being that Natalie is Israeli-born, this story and film is sure to be close to her heart! I’m happy for her, and excited to see what she brings to the table!

What do you think of Natalie’s newest project?

Beyoncé Drops out of “A Star is Born” Remake

Beyoncé has officially called it quits on Clint Eastwood‘s remake of the classic film, A Star Is Born.

Bey released a statement explaining that she dropped out of the project due to her busy schedule. “I was looking forward to the production of  and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood,” she told E! News. “For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together.”

Reports flowed that Bey had gotten the role back in January 2011, but production was eventually pushed back when she became pregnant with Blue Ivy later on that year. Now sources say that, with Beyoncé out, Grammy-winning jazz musician Esperanza Spaulding is now being considered for the role. However, no decision for the role is going to be made until a male lead has signed on. Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Hamm have all been rumored to join the film, but no one knows who will take on what roles.

The film follows the love story of a talented young woman who falls for a falling star. There have already been three other versions of the movie, including the 1937 original film with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March, a 1954 version with Judy Garland and James Mason and a 1976 remake with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

Have to say, I’m a tad bit disappointed to hear this news. I’ve been wanting this movie to be out for a while now, and to hear that Beyoncé has dropped out is a little disappointing. But, being the true fan that I am, I’ll try to be understanding and what not. However, I expect a new single or something out ASAP Miss Knowles!

Tyler Perry Studios Catches Fire…Again!

Bad news for Tyler Perry. His movie studio caught fire…for the second time this year! Tyler Perry Studios, located in southeast Atlanta, was seen on fire earlier today.

Atlanta Fire Department spokeswoman Marian McDaniel said this fire was confined to a roof of a building at the studio. The roof of the building was being repaired when the fire broke out, McDaniel said. There is no structural damage and no injuries were reported, and the fire itself was under control in less than an hour.

In early May, the exterior of a building in the 30-acre complex was extremely damaged by fire. The interior had some water damage. It’s not known at this time if the building on fire today is the same building that caught fire in May.

This entire building needs to be checked out, because either there’s some faulty wires or something, or somebody just really doesn’t like Tyler Perry! Fires to your studio twice?! In one year?! Thank goodness nobody was hurt! An investigation for this fire is currently underway.

Halle Berry Released from Hospital After Nasty Fall

Halle Berry‘s rep has confirmed that the actress has been released from the hospital after suffering an injury while shooting a movie.

According to TMZ, Halle was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night. Sources say that Halle  hit her head on concrete after taking a nasty fall while on the set of her movie, The Hive.

According to a photo agency, Halle was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in L.A. The injury occurred at around 10 PM Tuesday night.  There was an ambulance on scene, apparently how Halle was transported.

The actress apparently hasn’t been without her share of injuries while filming. Just last year, she broke her foot while filming Cloud Atlas in Spain. In 2003, she broke her arm on set of Gothika, and she was hospitalized in 2004 after she was smacked in the head with a lighting prop while filming Catwoman. Halle also suffered an eye injury during shooting for the James Bond flick Die Another Day in 2002.

Ouch! Halle’s rep tells Liveline Live Halle is fine and will continue filming. “Halle Berry suffered a minor head injury while shooting a fight sequence on the set of her film, The Hive. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but she checked out healthy and was released. She’ll continue production as planned.”

Tyler Perry Defends Kim Kardashian and Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Acting Skills

Tyler Perry is coming to the defense of Kim Kardashian and Bobbi Kristinasaying that they’re both great new actresses that he’s happy to have worked with.

The director first cast Kim in his upcoming film, The Marriage Counselor, in which she plays Ava, a friend/co-worker of  the main character Judith, played by Jurnee Smollett.

“She’s a good actress,” Tyler raved to reporters about Kim at the NYC premiere of Madea’s Witness Protection. “She did a really good job.” With Kim being deemed a typical reality bimbo, as well as being involved in one of the biggest headlined divorces in celeb history, he obviously faced fire for casting her into the film. “There was a lot going on with her marriage and all that stuff at the time,” he explained, referring to Kim’s divorce filing from Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage. “All that stuff that’s in the past. The movie’s called The Marriage Counselor. Of course it had something to do with that.”

Tyler also spoke well of Bobbi Kris, who he recently cast as a recurring character for his TBS series For Better Or Worse. “She did a fantastic job. That kid has such a future,” he said. “She’s such an actor. I’m so proud of her. I’m telling you. As far as she wants to go in this business, she can.”

In terms of casting Bobbi Kristina so soon after her mother Whitney Houston’s passing this past February, it’s not a decision he regrets.  “The whole purpose of that was to make sure that she was around people who cared, who loved her,” he explained. “What I found when my mother died is that you have to be around people who you trust. And I was glad that I could be there.”

Honestly, I’m excited to see both working in these Tyler Perry projects. I’ve been watching Kim, who presently has a recurring role on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, and she’s pretty good! Who would’ve thunk? I think with some more acting classes, she could go on to do some other roles. As far as Bobbi Kristina, I’m not sure what she’ll bring to the table, but entertainment’s in her blood, so I’m sure she has potential as well.

Channing Tatum Might Possibly Star as Superman in New Flick

Channing Tatum is certainly on a high with his career! He’s got Magic Mike coming out this Friday, two other films in production, and possibly a new role coming up as Superman in a new flick!

But before you get all excited about seeing him fly in tight spandex, the film is animation. Sorry ladies! According to Variety, Warner Bros. Studios want Channing to voice Superman for their upcoming movie Lego: The Piece of Resistance, which combines live-action and Lego-based animation.

Channing’s participation is up in the air right now. He’s definitely pretty busy with working on Bennett Miller‘s Foxcatcher, as well as the 21 Jump Street sequel. However, Will Arnett and Chris Pratt are both signed on to the film, with Pratt voicing the lead character Emmet and Arnett taking on the role of Lego Batman.

The Phil Lord and Christopher Miller-directed movie has been in development since 2008 and is slated for a February 2014 release date.

Channing might be able to work on this movie as well, but it seems his plate is a little full right now. He definitely doesn’t want to take on too much. But then again, it would be cool to see him doing some voice-over work. To my knowledge, I don’t think he’s ever done animation before, so it would be something new! Meanwhile, I’m going to be front row center at a movie theater this weekend to see him and the rest of the cast of Magic Mike shed some clothes and drop it like it’s hot!

Joe Manganiello Denies Dating Demi Moore, Talks Magic Mike

Joe Manganiello is still on the market ladies! Rumors started swirling that he was dating Demi Moore, after they were seen chatting it up during the That’s My Boy after party in L.A. However, Joe shut those rumors down in an interview on Ryan Seacrest‘s KIIS-FM radio show Thursday, saying that “there is 100 percent zero truth” to relationship rumors.

At the Samsung Galaxy S III launch in Beverly Hills later that same night, Joe admitted to Us Weekly that he likes to keep his personal life under wraps, “unless it is to shoot down rumors that I’m dating someone — like what showed up on the internet this week,” he said.

However, he did spill details on his new role as an exotic dancer in upcoming flick Magic Mike! “You have no idea what you are in for! You are going to be speechless,” he promised. “It’s really to an honor to be a part of the movie, and when I found out Steven Soderbergh was directing, I was all in.”

To prep for his role as Big Dick Richie (*fans self!*), Joe talked to “a really good friend who was a male stripper in Dallas in the ’90s” and enrolled in “stripper boot camp” with costars Channing TatumAlex PettyferMatt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey. “It consisted of doing body and hip rolls in the mirror for hours on end,” he laughed at the idea. “Funny, but I’m serious.”

Well, I’m hoping that they learned a lot in that boot camp, because I will be watching that. What I would’ve gave to be an extra in that movie!!!

CELEB SPOTTING: Rihanna Heads Down Under For Battleship Premiere

Rihanna headed to the Land Down Under for the premiere of her movie, Battleship! Taking place down under in Sydney, Australia, Rihanna rocked an all black ensemble (which didn’t really go well with her body type, but style is subjective, I guess). with a smile while posing for cameras. The $200 million movie premieres in Aussie theaters on Friday and will be RiRi’s acting debut. That is, if you don’t count that little cameo in Bring It On Again back in ’05…which I refuse to, for good reason.

Rihanna’s rumored on-again lover, Chris Brown, will be performing in cities across Australia for the continent’s annual urban music festival, Supafest. Other artists performing include Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, Trey Songz, and Big Sean. The first show takes place April 14 in Brisbane.  Rumors were swirling in the past couple of weeks that since Rihanna would be in Aussieland around the same time as Breezy, that the two might perform together. Sorry to disappoint those wanting the troubled duo to hit the stage, but Rihanna won’t be attending. She tweeted a pic of her getting ready to leave Australia just last night. I’m still looking forward to that day that they hit the stage together again, though.

Check out photos from the Battleship premiere below!

Midwesterners, you may now point and laugh at Jim Carrey.

Jim Carrey, in my opinion, is one of the best actors out there. He’s like a poor man’s Johnny Depp…both versatile and adaptable but not as cool. All crappy comparisons aside, from what it sounds like Slim Jim is a wuss when it comes to set conditions. In a recent interview, the actor divulged an interesting fear that would make most of us Midwestern people point and laugh in Carrey’s face.

Check out what Carrey has to say why he “almost fainted” on the set of Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

The 69 Greatest Sex Scenes In Movie History

A couple of wise philosophers once stated; Let’s talk about sex, baby. Let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be .

And with that, I give you, IMHO, the 69 greatest sex scenes in movie history. Let’s start the countdown…
