Foxy 71-Year-Old Martha Stewart Was A Model And Find Out Who Her Role Model Is

Unknown

Parade FINALLY did an article on one of my favorite divas ever. Yes, she is right up there with my girl MC. Jeepers, Marta!

Martha Stewart is looking good and feeling great about aging well, she tells Dotson Rader in Sunday’s PARADE. As the domestic diva (aka DD) writes in her new book, Living the Good Long Life: A Practical Guide to Caring for Yourself and Others: “When you’re through changing, you’re through.” YES! Another fab book from double d.

Some highlights from the surprisingly candid, wide-ranging conversation:

ON HOW SHE WOULD DESCRIBE HER NEW BOOK:

“It’s all about surviving in this extraordinary world—physically, mentally, emotionally. I wrote it because nobody is paying attention to the silver tsunami of baby boomers who are now turning 65. My book focuses on what you can do for othersand what you can do for yourself in terms of aging gracefully.”

ON MODELING AT AGE 13:

“Just for money. But it was fun.”

ON WHETHER SHE KNEW SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL:

“No, I actually didn’t. I knew I was good enough to get $60 an hour, which was the going rate at the time. I wasn’t the cover girl. I wasn’t Suzy Parker. But I should’ve been. Maybe if I had had somebody encouraging me…But then I got married when I was 19.”

ON THE DISPUTE BETWEEN MACYS AND JC PENNEY OVER THE RIGHTS TO SELL HER WARES:

“We try something new and we get slapped with a lawsuit….We like designing and making products. We’re good at it. We want to have our own stores. That’s how the J.C. Penney thing came around; it was an opportunity to have 700 storeswithin J.C. Penney. What I want to do now is build freestanding stores.”

ON WHETHER SHE FEELS THE STOCK SALE THAT RESULTED IN HER LANDING BEHIND BARS WAS A MISTAKE:

“I don’t consider that a mistake. It was a normal thing that people do every day. They sell stock. What was a mistake was the way it was handled. I’m not supposed to say this, but I was not guilty of any crime. I became a target because I was a strong and a rich woman who had been very successful.”

ON HER ADMIRATION FOR HILLARY CLINTON:

“I admire Hillary greatly, her inner strength. She did a phenomenal job as secretary of state. The best thing of all was the way she treated her husband.”

ON WHETHER SHE WOULD HAVE LEFT BILL AFTER HIS ESCAPADES:

“Well, I wouldn’t have. Hillary was married to the president. Walking out on him when he’s stupid would’ve shown weakness and self-centeredness. She saved him, her self-respect, and her daughter. She didn’t cut the family asunder. As a result, she gained his respect forever.”

ON WHETHER SHE WILL WRITE AUTOBIOGRAPHY:

“Of course. I have my title and everything. I’ve led such an interesting and complicated life that it’s getting to be time to record it.”

Love.this.bitch. That is all.

Martha Stewart Show Gets Cancelled

Launched in 2005, ‘The Martha Stewart Show’ meets the television graveyard this April after being cancelled just recently by the Hallmark Channel. NBC originally launched the show in 2005, but The Martha Stewart Show got demoted to The Hallmark Channel in 2010. After expensive studio costs and low viewership (225,000), the show met the chopping block. According to the NY Post, Lisa Gersh, president of MSLO, states that production costs are a large part of the issue, and that “[they] will either bring television in-house or find lower cost space, which will…reduce our TV operating margins.”

I must admit that I can be somewhat of a craft weirdo – not that I actually do the crafts, I just like watching other people do them (is that weird?). So, I have to admit that I’m a little surprised that the show is getting cut like it is…but then again, how often can we all watch the stiff perfectionist quality that Miss Martha gives off?

Not only that, but the Hallmark Channel is also uncertain about their other television show – Emeril’s Table – which leaves me wondering if all those craft shows are gonna go down the tubes (much like my long loved game shows which took a dive not too long ago).

Does this mean that we have to find another designer and craft touchstone?

Think again! According to The Hallmark Show, they are exploring new concepts with Martha Stewart and a lot of the staff will stay on…

But Martha promises her small circle of fans that she will have an amazing ‘Oprah-style’ send off in April…which leaves me feeling all warm, and fuzzy inside…I guess.

And to add to the news even more (making it all look more and more sad and pathetic), Home Depot will no longer be selling Martha Stewart paint, which apparently leaves a bad looking finish.

Looks like bad finishes are all over the place here people.

I don’t know about you, but time to go comfort myself in my Martha Stewart linens.
