Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Anna Kendrick Talks New Role in Into The Woods and Ambition in Marie Claire

Anna Kendrick stuns on the cover of the December issue of Marie Claire! In her interview, the actress had a lot to talk about, including her upcoming role as Cinderella in musical film Into The Woods, as well as her ambition and need to take a break from filming.

Check out some of the highlights below!

On her role as Cinderella in Into the Woods: “The character is thoughtful and complicated. You see what happens after she marries the prince, when you start to face problems in seemingly perfect situations. The interesting thing about her is she overthinks things, she’s uncertain – we don’t see that in most versions. In a lot of ways, I think it’s this incredibly brave story. She’s neglected and abused her entire life she finally gets love and it’s not the kind of love she was looking for, and she stands up for herself.”

On taking a short break: “The whole going-movie-to-movie-to-movie thing, I’ve been living that way for three years. Like I need to be a person and, you know, maintain relationships.”

On insta-fame following her 2010 Oscar nomination: “It was insane. Like really groovy and exciting. [But] there was a lot of ‘Why me?’—that sort of thing.”

On the celebrity hacking scandal this fall: “I’m so infuriated on behalf of those girls. And bummed out that people feel like that’s something they can do.”

On having her looks scrutinized: “The most common thing that I get is, ‘Am I the only one who doesn’t think that Anna Kendrick is pretty?’ And you’re like, ‘No, you’re not the only one. Arguably, all of the boys in my high school agree with you.'”

On ambition: “Mostly it’s the fear that the wolves are always at your heels and you’re going to be tossed out into the street. If you grow up middle class, you just always feel like you’ve got to be working, because otherwise you won’t be able to pay the rent.”

You can check out the full cover story when the December issue hits newsstands on November 18!

Nicki Minaj Discusses Work Ethic and Career Goals in Billboard Magazine

Nicki Minaj has been getting interviews left and right in promotion for her upcoming album, The Pink Print! The rapper recently snagged the cover of Billboard magazine, discussing how hard she really grinds and long term goals for her career.

Check out some of the highlights of the interview below!

On doing the behind-the-scenes work herself…because she has a brain
“I’m on 15 to 25 conference calls every few days strategizing with my team. I think a lot of artists sit back and have it done for them. Sometimes as women in the industry — if you’re sexy or like doing sexy things — some people subconsciously negate your brain. They think you’re stupid.”

On never resting on her laurels
“It’s corny when rappers feel like they’ve made it and they don’t have to prove themselves anymore. You should always be competing. You should always be trying to show that you’re the best. My album is going to be important to hip-hop.”

On those backhanded compliments
“Once I did American Idol, a lot of people would come up to me and say, ‘Oh, you’re smarter than I thought.’ “What does that mean?!”

On long-term goals
“I was just a little kid in Southside Jamaica, Queens, hoping one day I would have my own perfume. And now I have three.”

The full cover story is set to come out later today, Nov. 7!

Though I haven’t always been in support of everything Nicki has done in her career, I admire her work ethic. She hasn’t stopped, and now, regardless of how anyone feels about it, she’s on top of the world!

Penelope Cruz is Esquire’s “Sexiest Woman Alive”

Penelope Cruz is Esquire‘s Sexiest Woman Alive for 2014!

The actress had an interview with the magazine recently, in her hometown of Madrid, Spain. Though she didn’t talk about her personal life or her plans for a new movie with director Pedro Almodovar, she still impressed writer Chris Jones. “She is impossibly beautiful,” he wrote in the November issue. “When she walks into a room, men start walking into furniture.” He also added, “Over the course of a long lunch, Cruz looks like a thousand different women. She flips her hair, or she shifts in her hair, or she creases her forehead or widens her eyes, and these alone are enough to transform her. It feels like watching close-up magic, an actress playing every possible part and well enough to be confounding.”

In the article, Penelope talked about how she came to finally be herself in the Hollywood scene. “I’ve played a lot of tricks on myself. I’ve made it hard for me sometimes, especially in my teens and twenties,” the actress admitted. “I had an attraction to drama. Most of us have that, especially if you are an artist — you feel like you are tempted to explore the darkness. I could not be less interested now. For me, the most attractive, charming, cool, fun, interesting thing — how could I call it? A plan.”

Currently, her focus is her family: husband Javier Bardem and kids Leo, 3, and Luna, 14 months. She shut down any questions about them, which is understandable.

Past winners of one of the mag’s highest honors have included Angelina Jolie, Mila Kunis, Halle Berry, and Scarlett Johansson, who topped the list twice, in 2006 and last year in 2013.

Penelope definitely stuns on this cover! She’s always been gorgeous, but WOW! Congrats to her for snagging the title!

Jada Pinkett-Smith Talks Fitness for Health Magazine

Jada Pinkett-Smith showed off her fabulous body on the cover of the most recent issue of Health magazine! The 43-year-old actress and mom discussed her fitness and eating routine, as well as as how she feels about getting older! Check out the highlights below!

On her fitness regimen:
It’s funny—my cardio workout varies. If I have a heavy carb week, I’ve got a heavy cardio week. I tell people all the time, ‘You can eat whatever you want, as long as you’re willing to put the work in, and that’s a thing I had to learn. So I make sure I do something physical every single day. But that doesn’tt mean you have to go to the gym and freaking kill yourself! I do 20 minutes of cardio a day. Everybodys thinking you gotta be in the gym for an hour and a half. Literally, I’m never in the gym longer than 45 minutes. Just be consistent—that’s it! It doesn’t necessarily have to be intense, and you will see a difference. Just go out of your house and do a brisk walk! Every night, my mother and I take the dog and just walk, and that’s a ritual for us.

On the foods she focuses on to stay healthy and being big on lean protein and fresh veggies:
And carbs! My husband’s trainer started giving me diet tips, and he dismissed the myth that more carbs means you’re going to be unhealthy. What I realized is that I wasn’t eating enough of the proper foods like pasta and rice. I needed more of a high-carb situation in order to facilitate the amount of calories I burn. That meant more fruits, meant a lot of vegetables because those are carbs as well and, if I want, some pasta or toast or English muffins.

On her bikini photo showing off her toned body
Willow took that photo. She said, “Mommy, you look so beautiful in this picture.” I couldn’t really see it, but I was so charmed that that’s how she sees her mother. I’m getting teary thinking about it now. [Tears spill down her cheeks.] Because when your kids get to be teenagers, they can get a little rough on you, you know what I mean?

On feeling good about getting older
Because it is what it is! I’m getting older! I’ve never looked at myself as, like, a beauty. I’m not sore on the eye, but I know there’s always going to be somebody more beautiful—always. My grandmother used to say to me, “It’s not about what you look like on the outside. It’s what you look like on the inside.” So she helped me learn at an early age to be well-rounded, to be spiritual, to be compassionate.

And my mom said, “You can do whatever you want with your hair and your clothes.” I went to art school, and I could make my hair lime green if I wanted. So there was a certain internal power that grew within me because I didn’t have a problem being who I was, no matter what room I was in.

On Her date nights with Will
A lot of times, we’ll do it at the house because when we go out it can be a little hectic. So we have different places around our yard where we like to set up a little Arabian tent, pillows, wine and cheese, candlelight. Will likes really thought-out productions.

Jada is freaking GORGEOUS! She stays on top of her fitness, and eats well, but doesn’t deny herself food to maintain her body either. She’s confident in her body, and that’s definitely something to look to!

Bethany Mota Talks YouTube Success for Seventeen

Seventeen magazine is going to be the first major women’s magazine to dedicate an issue to big stars on YouTube, including beauty and fashion YouTuber Bethany MotaBethany has been a huge success with her own channel dedicated to beauty, fashion and DIY tutorials, gaining over 7 million subscribers! Soon the YouTuber will also be featured on Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars as well.

Featured on the cover of the mag, Bethany talked about her success story and her hope for other girls in the world. Check out some of the highlights below!

How being bullied inspired Bethany  to start filming beauty videos when she was 13:
“It was so cool seeing girls being positive and spreading happiness. At first, I made beauty videos that were like everyone else’s –- I’d try to act perfect. But then I realized it might be more fun if I was just myself. So I showed my silly side and kept in the bloopers. I liked those videos way more, and people appreciated that realness.”

What it’s been like to grow up on YouTube:
“I think it’s taught me to be a lot more self-motivated and has taught me how to encourage myself and not rely on a teacher or a boss telling me what to do. I’m my own boss. My biggest thing to overcome has been not being afraid to be different. It’s safer to do what everyone else is doing, but it pays off way more to be yourself.”

Her advice for other girls who are trying to find their place in the world:
“You have to be your own motivator! A lot of teens say they’re bored. Before I got on YouTube, I’d say the same thing. But there is always something you can be doing. If YouTube isn’t your thing, maybe it’s a sport or something else you’re good at. There’s always something you can be the best at –- you just have to look for it.”

You can check out Seventeen.com for more! I’ve checked out some of Bethany’s work, and she’s a very charismatic and real young woman who is making an impact doing what she loves. Go her!

Audrey Hepburn’s Granddaughter, Emma Ferrer, Covers Harper’s Bazaar

Talk about identical! Audrey Hepburn’s granddaughter is the spitting image of the icon, covering Harper’s Bazaar in a great tribute to the late actress.

Emma Ferrer, the daughter of Ms. Hepburn’s son Sean, was featured on the magazine’s subscriber covers (The newsstand covers feature Penelope Cruz, Linda Evangelista, and Lady Gaga). Interestingly enough, the show was photographed by Michael Avedon, grandson of fashion photographer Richard Avedon, with whom Ms. Hepburn had a relationship years ago.

Currently an art student at the Florence Academy of Art, the 20-year-old spoke to the mag about her legendary grandmother, who, sadly, died before she was born. “I remember seeing a photo of her jumping on a trampoline — I believe this was before I understood that she was famous,” Emma said. “But I remember thinking that she looked like a friend I wish I could have had. As a child I couldn’t really relate to Audrey Hepburn, the actress. To me, she was family.”

When asked if she had anything of  her grandmother’s, Emma said, “”All I can think of are her cashmere turtlenecks, which I adore and wear all throughout the winter. And a white antique stuffed teddy bear.”

They look so much alike! The poses and outfits chosen were perfect to match Aubrey Hepburn’s style. Check out Harper’s Bazaar for the full interview and photos from the shoot!

Ariana Grande Talks Insecurities and Relationship with Her Father in Seventeen

Ariana Grande is, no doubt, one of the biggest pop stars out in the industry right now! She’s killing the music scene with her own smash hit, “Problem,” a new amazing track with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj called, “Bang Bang,” and is set to release her album at the end of August! She’s on top of the world, but in a recent interview with Seventeen magazine, the singer was candid about her struggles, including her insecurities and her distant relationship with her father.

Check out some of the highlights below!

On putting herself out there and being totally exposed…
“It’s tough to spend some of the most important years of your life in front of so many strangers who want to pick you apart. Insecurity has been the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome. I think everyone my age struggles with that because everyone strives for approval and wants to feel loved.”

On how she gets over her insecurities…
“I focus on what’s important. My grandpa is sick, so I focus on him every day. I’m having the biggest song of my career so far, and all I can think about is my grandpa, because that’s what’s important to me.”

Her grandfather, unfortunately, recently passed away, and Ariana Grande released a statement to the mag, saying,

This interview took place before I lost my grandfather. Reading it back now is, of course, very hard but I’m so grateful that I spoke briefly about some of the wisdom he shared with me in this interview. I hope the Seventeen readers find it helpful and can relate.

On the biggest lesson she’s learned in the past few years…
“Being okay with not having the answers to everything. I feel like for the first time in my life, I’m really okay. I used to freak out about everything all the time. I used to be like, ‘Oh my God, somebody said this!’ Everything used to be such a big deal! But now, I feel I can handle everything that comes my way with a calm energy.”

On the toughest thing she has ever had to deal with…
“Falling out of touch with my dad. It’s private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

I absolutely love this girl, and love her even more after reading this interview. She seems so sweet, yet real, and her talent is impeccable (so excited for her new album)! Keeping her and her family in my thoughts and prayers with the passing of her grandfather.

Rachel McAdams Talks Working with Lindsay Lohan and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in ALLURE

Rachel McAdams shined on the cover of ALLURE’s August issue, shedding her makeup and going au naturel! In her interview, the actress opened up on her thoughts about love (especially after her breakup with Ryan Gosling), as well as working with Lindsay Lohan and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

“If anything, I was in awe of her talent. I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing, so natural,” Rachel said of her experience with Lindsay on the set of Mean Girls. Lindsay herself reportedly found that Rachel was intimidating, to which Rachel responded, “It’s just funny to hear that because you never know what people are thinking. We all try to act like we’ve got it together.”

The actress is set to appear next in the upcoming flick, A Most Wanted Man, which also stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman. “”I learned so much from him,” she said of working with the late actor.” He really takes you under — he really took me under his wing. You feel very taken care of, but at the same time there’s an element of danger: There’s a crackle in every scene,” she continued. “He makes sure the stakes are very high, and there’s a safety there, too. He had so much natural, raw talent, but he worked so hard, too. He really worked for it and didn’t let up. I’m sure that wasn’t easy.”

You can check out more of the spread and interview here! And, of course, be sure to pick of a copy Rachel’s issue when it hits newsstands July 29!

Kanye West Talks Wedding & Love for Kim Kardashian in GQ

Kanye West recently snagged the cover of the most recent issue of GQ, and was open as always about his recent wedding to Kim Kardashian, clearing up rumors that he gave himself a 45-minute toast, and speaking out on Jay Z and Beyoncé not showing up. Check out some of the highlights from the interview below!

If he feels like TMZ is trying to “de-fang” him when they mock him:
“I don’t have fangs. I’m a porcupine. I’m a blowfish. Like, I’m a — what’s the fish that blows up? Yeah. I’m a blowfish. I’m not a shark, I’m a blowfish. So that perfect example about me hitting my head, it’s like a blowfish. I wasn’t coming out of my house going to a paparazzi’s house to attack them. I’m defending my family in front of my own house. I’m defending my name as someone’s screaming something negative at me. That’s a blowfish. People have me pinned as a shark or a predator in some way, and in no way am I that. I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone. I want to defend people. I want to help people.”

On rumors he gave a 45-minute toast to himself:
“And what I talked about in it was the idea of celebrity, and celebrities being treated like blacks were in the ’60s, having no rights, and the fact that people can slander your name. I said that in the toast. And I had to say this in a position where I, from the art world, am marrying Kim. And how we’re going to fight to raise the respect level for celebrities so that my daughter can live a more normal life. She didn’t choose to be a celebrity. But she is. So I’m going to fight to make sure she has a better life.”

On Jay Z and Beyonce not attending his wedding:
“All that, I wouldn’t even speak on. It doesn’t even matter to me whatsoever, who would show up. Because the most important person to show up there, to me, was Kim. And that’s all that matters to me.”

On who is responsible for his wedding photo garnering more likes than any other photo in Instagram’s history:
“It’s because of Kim. Meaning there’s no photo that I would have put up by myself, or next to one of my smarty friends, that would have got that amount of likes … Now the thing that is the most popular is also communicating the highest level of creativity. The concept of Kimye has more cultural significance than what Page Six could write.”

On why he married Kim:
“Like they said in ‘Step Brothers’: Never lose your dinosaur. This is the ultimate example of a person never losing his dinosaur. Meaning that even as I grew in cultural awareness and respect and was put higher in the class system in some way for being this musician, I never lost my dinosaur. Kim is this girl who f**king turns me on. I love her. This is who I want to be next to and be around … You mean to tell me that this girl with this f**king body and this face is also into style, and she’s a nice person, and she has her own money and is family-oriented? That’s just as cool as a f**king fighter jet or dinosaur! And just as rarely seen.”

Kanye clearly loves him some Kim K! Read the full story here!

Zoe Saldaña Talks Relationships and Dream Roles in Marie Claire

Zoe Saldaña stunned on the cover of the August issue of Marie Claire, which is set to hit newsstands on July 22. In her feature interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy star opened up about her family, her husband, her thoughts on love and relationships, and her dream roles for her career.

Check out some of the highlights below!

On her relationship with husband Marco Perego: “I don’t do the ABCs. I do what my heart says, what my heart feels. So from the moment I met my husband, we were together. We knew.”

On the biggest thing she’s learned about relationships: “Not to settle. If you’re not happy with a person, leave. And wait until you find that one person who makes you feel good about yourself every single day and is not expecting you to change, but to grow.”

On disrespect: “I have been in relationships where a man has disrespected me, and I don’t need to be friends with that man anymore. I don’t want to be the one going, ‘I’m cool, because I’m friends with all my exes.’ There’s a reason why you’re called an ex. I crossed you off my list. Moving on. You cross a line, you need to know that you’re going to walk this earth knowing that there’s an individual who has no respect for you.”

On dream roles: “I would love to play Nefertiti or Cleopatra or the Queen of Sheba. We preserve more male history than we do female. We have to preserve it. No more complaining. We have to do it.”

On growing up in Dominican Republic: “I had many female bullies growing up who wanted us to be submissive and to follow and to kiss ass, and that’s the last thing any Saldana will ever do, honestly.”

Needless to say, from this short tidbit, readers can see that Zoe is definitely not the one to play with! She offered some wise advice in terms of relationships, as well. She’s not only a talented actress, but a strong person, who will speak her mind as she feels. Kudos to her for snagging this cover!

Zoe Saldana Talks Controversial Nina Simone Role in Monarch Magazine

Zoe Saldana recently snagged the cover of Monarch magazine, looking gorgeous! The actress, who landed the role of the late jazz artist Nina Simone, talked to the mag about the controversy behind her getting the role, how she feels about always having to define, and, in a sense, defending her race and culture, and how she prepared for it.

Check out the highlights of the interview below!

Playing the late, great Nina Simone, what inspired you to do a project like this?
Nina was a true genius and an iconic artist. It was a dream job for me. It’s one of the scariest projects I’ve ever been involved with because it was about an iconic figure, and there were so many political [issues] around it from the beginning; but I really wanted it to be a love song to Nina Simone and I wanted it to just come from a place of absolute love. I loved the complexity of Nina and her beauty that she expressed with her music. I wanted to do right by her and knew it would be challenging. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing opportunity to play a true legend.

How did you prepare for the role?
I did a lot of research to prepare for Nina. I took piano lessons, voice lessons, worked with a dialect coach, and I really invested months of just doing research about Nina – her background, her story, her life. My research ranged from reading books about Nina, listening to her music, watching footage of her.

How did the controversy about you playing Nina affect you?
The Nina Simone story needed to be told, and I’m really blessed that I did it. I’m human. I wish I was made of steel and so certain things wouldn’t affect me. So it did affect me but I couldn’t let that deter me from doing what I needed to do. Just like everybody else I feel very strongly about Nina Simone, and that [this] was a story that needed to be told. I do believe that if everybody had more information about how this all came to be, it might help; but then again, I’m not here to get the acceptance of everyone – I’m here to be an artist first. Hopefully people will enjoy the film and I helped shed some light on this amazing iconic

Do you feel like your heritage and ethnicity is always questioned?

I find it uncomfortable to have to speak about my identity all of the time, when in reality it’s not something that drives me or wakes me up out of bed every day. I didn’t grow up in a household where I was categorized by my mother. I was just Zoe and I could have and be anything that I ever wanted to do … and every human being is the same as you. So to all of a sudden leave your household and have people always ask you, “What are you? What are you?” is the most uncomfortable question sometimes and it’s literally the most repetitive question. Because I can’t wait to be in a world where people are sized by their soul and how much they can contribute as individuals and not what they look like … I feel like as a race, that’s a minute problem against the problems we face just as women versus men, in a world that’s more geared and designed to cater towards the male species.

You can read more of the interview here!

Though Zoe has received A LOT of backlash for getting this role (many believed she wasn’t dark enough to play the role), I know that she is very talented and has the potential to pull this off. Plenty of actresses have done it before anyway. Angela Bassett looked nothing like Tina Turner, and look how well that turned out! I’m going to rule out judgement until I see the finished product.

Demi Lovato Makes Maxim’s 100, Opens Up About Sexiness

Demi Lovato has come a long way from her Disney days, shedding that perfect good girl image and just being okay with being Demi. The singer made it to no. 40 on the Maxim Hot 100 issue, which will hit news stands June 3. In her feature in the mag, Demi opened up about what she thinks is sexy and how she is rebuilding her own confidence.

“To me, sexiness stems from being confident and comfortable in your own skin,” the 21-year-old explained. She thinks her best physical attribute is her “butt,” but admitted that her own self-confidence is a daily process. “The ability to work at bettering myself—I’m not perfect, no one is, but I’m working at becoming better everyday,” she continued. “Everyday I can look back and say I’m in a better place than I was yesterday.”

Demi, who  has been dating That ’70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama since 2010, also had no issue being honest about what she looks for in a man. “To get my attention, a guy must be genuine, supportive, real and have the ability to make me laugh,” she said.

No. 40 is definitely not bad in a huge pool of hot celebrity women! Demi herself is gorgeous, and always has been. I’m glad that she has gotten better over the years, and is recognizing her own beauty and sexiness. I can’t wait to see the spread!

Paula Patton Opens Up About Robin Thicke in Vanity Fair

It was a surprise to some, but no big shocker to most when Robin Thicke and Paula Patton announced plans to split in February, shortly after Miley Cyrus twerked on him at the MTV Video Music Awards, and then caught in a selfie cupping a fan’s butt. Many blamed Robin for the separation, and even he has come out and said that he was ” trying to get my girl back.” He told his audience at a show in Fairfax, Virginia, shortly after the split that “she’s a good woman,” before dedicating his hit song Lost Without U to her.

Paula opened up a little bit to Vanity Fair about her ex-partner of 20 years, who she met at an 18-and-under nightclub when she was 15 and he was 14. Before their first kiss, he sang Jodeci’s “Forever My Lady” to her, which he sings about in his song, “For The Rest of My Life.” Obviously, the serenade worked, because they lasted off and on for 20 years aftewards, and had a son, Julian, 4.  “He wasn’t my first kiss,” Paula said, “but he was my first lots of other things.” The actress didn’t openly say if the two would get back together. All she said was, “We’ve known each other since we were teenagers. All I can tell you is there’s a deep love there—always was, and always will be.” Hmm….

536aa04b743dbe7c03677567_paula-patton-vanity-fair-ss04

Paula also spoke on her start in film. She actually first worked behind the scenes in film production after graduating from college. “I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera,” the actress said. “It took until I was 27 to say, ‘You only have one life to live, so you might as well go and see if you can act.’ ” In her first year, she landed a part in Hitch, which starred Will Smith. Her latest project has Paula in Vancouver filming Warcraft, based on the online game series. “I’ve never been big into video games,” she admitted. “But the Warcraft script reads more like a complex, epic novel.”

I’m really hoping that Paula and Robin work things out! However, there’s probably more to the story than we as fans and readers see. It would be nice to see them reconcile, because I love seeing their chemistry and blatant love for each other, but, sometimes, it doesn’t work out. For now, Paula’s focused on her son and acting. For her, I might just check out that Warcraft film!

Check out more pictures from her spread in Vanity Fair. From the sexy shots, it’s clear the girl never lost it!
