Pour it up, pour it up! It has been announced that Jay Z has purchased the Armand de Brignac (aka”Ace of Spades“) champagne brand!
According to Billboard, the rapper and entrepreneur acquired the brand from New York-based Sovereign Brands, which announced the sale in a statement this week. “We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company owned by the Berish family, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac (‘Ace of Spades’) Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally-renowned Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter,” the company said in a statement.
A bottle of Ace of Spades can go for $300 at its lowest but can go as high as $200,000, for actual 30-liter bottles made of gold!
Though the terms of the deal and Jay’s company name weren’t disclosed, a spokesperson for Sovereign told the New York Times in an emailed statement that the Brooklyn native “made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse.”
I respect Jay’s hustle so much. I can’t say I’ll be popping any Ace of Spades bottles anytime soon, but I’m sure a bunch of his celebrity friends will! Congrats to him on this new venture!
