Jodie Foster: Class Act

If you saw the 70th Annual Golden Globes last night, what you witnessed last night with Jodie Foster was an exercise of class, grace, and wit. For this generation coming up now that needs an example on how to have a career to be proud of, they should have taken notes.

Foster was bestowed the Cecille B. DeMille Award for nearly 50 years in the entertainment industry as an actress, producer and director. She graciously took the stage last night and gave a speech that touched on all aspects of her life – all of them – yet still managed to keep her privacy, which she has fervently fought for nearly her entire life. Her speech should probably be decoded by Tom Hands in The DaVinci Code one day, but for now, as people scratch their heads, others applaud her.

As she gave her speech, tears could be seen streaming down the face of some of Hollywood’s most elite, and Foster, who thanked her ex-partner and two sons, seemed to come out, but didn’t, seemed to quit acting, but has not, and backstage when asked to iron out the parts of her speech some did not understand? She replied:

“The speech kind of speaks for itself.”

In other words…

Rewind! Read between the lines! I’ve said it all.

Class act, Jodie.

Class act!

CELEB SPOTTING: Adele in L.A. Toting Her Baby

Adele has her sights on a Golden Globe, touching down in Los Angeles on Thursday for Sunday’s event. The singer was spotted carrying her newborn son, who was born in October.

Adele is up for a Golden Globe for her song “Skyfall” which was used in the newest James Bond movie. This event will be her first official appearance since she had the baby, the first for her and boyfriend Simon Konecki. This picture is the closest that the public has ever gotten to see the kid, whose name is still unknown.

“Skyfall” is up for Best Original Song, and is up against some serious contendersi ncluding Taylor Swift’s Hunger Games song, “Safe & Sound,” Jon Bon Jovi’s “Not Running Anymore” from Stand Up Guys and “Suddenly,” which was sung in Les Misérables by Hugh Jackman.

Guess we’ll see who wins on Sunday! Good luck Adele!

REPORT: Lindsay Lohan crashes Golden Globes after party

Either Lindsay Lohan really DID get invited to a Golden Globes after-party as a result of Dina’s wheeling and dealing or Freckles just showed up. The New York Daily News is reporting the latter. Yeah, they are saying that Freckles SNUCK into Harvey Weinstein’s Golden Globes party last night. The nerve, right? But really, what does she have to lose?

Ricky Gervais to Host Golden Globes Sunday Night

Ricky Gervais is set to host the Golden Globes this Sunday!

Don’t you hate celebrity bashing? Don’t you hate when people talk bad about celebrities?

Why don’t they just let them be?

Kidding, people! Just making sure you were listening!

I don’t know about you, but after missing last year’s Golden Globe Award ceremony, I am making sure that I am not missing it this year. Why? Ricky Gervais.

Just like last year, Ricky Gervais tells Matt Lauer that he won’t back down from his style of hosting the show and does plan on bashing the celebrities we all know and love so much. I’m looking forward to it. In his interview with Matt Lauer, he seems very unapologetic about offending certain celebrities, “If you don’t let yourself be offended, you’re not offended.”

Suddenly, I’m becoming very glad that I’m not a celebrity. Aren’t you?

So, while we all sit back at home and enjoy the celebrity bash (and bashing), we can all take comfort in the fact that what we wear on the red carpet, what we weigh, and what our private lives are like won’t be scrutinized and made fun of for the whole world to see.

But, somehow I take great comfort in the lack of editing and scripting of what Ricky Gervais will bring to the show. Although there were rumors of Ricky having to submit a script pre-award show, Ricky Gervais warned via Twitter that the show, “it’s live! Ha!”

And while the celebrities squirm in their seats, the Golden Globes will finally become really, really interesting all over again. Let’s just hope they have him back for more next year.

Golden Globes airs Sunday Night at 8 PM ET.

Check out some of Ricky Gervais jokes from the Golden Globes here!

Ricky Gervais jokes, Golden Globes 2011

Will Ricky Gervais be invited back to host next year’s Golden Globes and does he even care one way or another? No matter what anyone thinks about his jokes last night, Gervais told the the Daily Mail that he had no regrets. He said, “I did every single introduction I was meant to. There just happened to be a long gap. This is because I was allowed to choose who I would introduce in advance. I obviously chose presenters who I had the best jokes for. (And who I knew had a good sense of humor). Everyone took it well and the atmosphere backstage and at the after show was great.”
