Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

American Horror Story Renewed for Fourth Season

Great news for all AHS fans, American Horror Story has been renewed for a fourth season by FX!

And, to add an extra dash of happy, Jessica Lange is set to return as well. Namely due to the fact that her contract with the show goes through 2014. I’ll just remain willfully ignorant of the fact that Lange has all but said she won’t be returning once her contract expires. I prefer to stay in happy-land.

The news that the series has been renewed isn’t all that surprising, especially considering the show’s ratings- this season in particular. As it stands, Ryan Murphy’s AHS is on its way to becoming FX’s highest rated series ever among the coveted demographic of adults 18-34. AHS Coven has surpassed previous season ratings in each episode so far, with episode 5 airing tonight, with total viewers up 77% this season.

Of the renewal, CEO of FX Networks John Landgraf says, “Every year they create a riveting and brilliant new miniseries. American Horror Story Coven is the best yet and I have no doubt that the next installment will be even better.”

AHS Coven airs Wednesdays on FX at 10pm EST.

Casting Continues on FX’s FARGO

Bob Odenkirk, Oliver Platt, Kate Walsh and Glenn Howerton are among the stars joining Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Colin Hanks in the FX limited series Fargo, an original adaptation of the classic Academy Award-winning feature film. The announcement was made today by Eric Schrier, President, Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions and Steve Stark, President, Television Production, MGM Television. Production begins in November in Calgary, Canada and the series is slated to premiere next spring on FX.

FX’s Fargo will feature an all-new “true crime” story, following a new case and new characters, all entrenched in the trademark humor, murder and “Minnesota nice” that has made the film an enduring classic. As previously announced, Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton stars as “Lorne Malvo,” a rootless, manipulative man who meets and forever changes the life of small town insurance salesman “Lester Nygaard,” played by BAFTA Award winner and Emmy-nominated Martin Freeman. Colin Hanks plays Duluth Police Deputy Gus Grimly, a single dad who must choose between his own personal safety when he comes face-to-face with a killer.

Rounding out Fargo’s colorful cast of recurring characters will be Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad), as “Deputy Bill Olson,” a Bemidji deputy with seniority over his younger, smarter and more ambitious fellow deputy, “Molly Solverson,” played by Allison Tolman (Sordid Lives), who will be a series regular.

Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated Oliver Platt (The Big C, and the upcoming features Lucky Them, Chef and Kill the Messenger), will play “Stavros Milos,” the Supermarket King of Minnesota. Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Kate Walsh (Private Practice) will star as “Gina Hess,” a former stripper and mother of teenaged twin boys. Glenn Howerton, star of FXX’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, will play “Don Chumph,” an ambitious personal trainer. Joey King (The Conjuring, Oz: The Great and Powerful) will play Gus’s daughter, “Greta Grimly” and Peter Breitmayer (The Middle, A Serious Man) will play “Lieutenant Schmidt,” Gus’s superior officer.

Tom Musgrave (Beethoven’s 5th) will portray “Bo Munk,” Lester’s boss at the Bo Munk Insurance Shop, and Josh Close (The Master) will play “Ron Nygaard,” Lester’s younger and more successful brother. Russell Harvard (There Will Be Blood) and Adam Goldberg (The Unusuals) will play members of the Fargo Crime Syndicate, “Mr. Wrench” and “Mr. Numbers,” respectively – Mr. Wrench is the muscle. Mr. Numbers is the mouth.

A 10-episode limited series, Fargo is written by Noah Hawley. Emmy Award-winning director Adam Bernstein (30 Rock) will direct the premiere hour. Executive Producers are Hawley, Warren Littlefield, Joel & Ethan Coen, and Geyer Kosinski. Fargo is produced by FX Productions and MGM Television.

George Lopez Gets New Sitcom

georgelopez

George Lopez is coming back to television as an actor! That’s right, FX has closed a deal for a half-hour sitcom called Saint George, starring and co-created by Lopez.

Saint George marks Lopez’s first starring role in a sitcom since his long-running ABC series, George Lopez. The multi-camera ensemble comedy revolves around the chaotic life of a recently divorced working class Mexican-American turned successful entrepreneur. In the sitcom, Lopez will portray a man who struggles to balance his demanding ex-wife, his 11-year-old son, his overbearing mother who just moved in, and his uncle, as well as his new role as a philanthropist “giving back” by teaching history once a week at a night school.

“George Lopez is an incredibly gifted actor-producer and one of the most talented comedians in the business,” said Saftler. “The 10/90 model requires a unique individual who has the ability to pull off this kind of daunting schedule. George is that guy and we couldn’t be happier that he chose FX as the home for his new project. We’ve had a great experience working with Kevin Beggs and his team at Lionsgate as well as with Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein at Debmar-Mercury, and are thrilled to expand that relationship.”

Lopez said, “I’m excited about my new show, couldn’t think a better group of people or better place to create than FX…..Now to get ready… Back to Pilates!”

Williams added, “George is one of the smartest, funniest guys around. David and I are thrilled to be working with him.”

Production on the show will start in late August.

Charlie Sheen May Have The Last Laugh

Remember when Charlie Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men and we thought we had seen the last of him and then he went on that massive tour where he made obscene amounts of money offering up tomfoolery and then again we’d thought we’d heard the end of him? Then he was tapped to head Anger Management and we thought it would never see the light of day? Well, that little show that couldn’t possibly right the Sheen ship has indeed done just that and now critics are scratching their heads as to how Sheen manages to land on his feet when most crackheads fall by the wayside.

Sheen’s Anger Management on FX pulled in the biggest numbers for that network’s for that network’s history, delivering over 5.5 million viewers in its debut. If these numbers hold up over ten episodes, the network will be forced to order 90 episodes of the series, which would make it ripe for syndication, which would in turn make Sheen rich all over again, which would mean that we would all be subjected yet again to a future streak of rented titty balls, coke runs, and bar brawls.

Let’s keep those ratings up, folks!!!
