Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Derek Hough Snags Role on ABC’s Nashville

Looks like Derek Hough is branching out! The Dancing with the Stars professional will join hit ABC show Nashville in its upcoming season for several episodes!

According to PEOPLE, Derek will play Noah West, a movie star who gets a leading role in the biopic of a famous country singer, interacting with a lot of the characters on the show. And, apparently, the guy is a sneak! ABC says the role requires him to play a “beguiling and disarming” guy.

Derek tweeted his excitement:

I absolutely LOVE the storylines, characters, and music of Nashville. Excited to see what Derek’s storyline brings to the table! Since he’s probably a bad boy, I’m sure he’ll bring the drama!

Maksim Chmerkovskiy Done with Dancing With The Stars

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is officially done with dancing! During his appearance on The View on July 29, the dancer announced he will no longer perform on ABC’s hit dancing competition, Dancing With the Stars!

“I’m done dancing,” he said on the daytime talk show. “I feel like it’s time.” Maks continued, explaining his decision, “When I came back to the show, it was not the same—I was different, probably. (He first left in February 2013 after season 16.) “When I came back, I saw this amazing talent…I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better. I was taking up a huge spot.”

This year, he returned for season 18, and took home the Mirrorball trophy for the first time with Olympic ice skater Meryl Davis. After his win, Maks first hinted that he was ready to leave the competition behind for good during an interview with Social Life magazine. “I want Meryl to be the last person I dance with,” he said in June. “The last person I got to be passionate with and care so much for.” The dancer apparently discussed plans to start a family, too. “I raised so many children at the studio that I am ready to create one of my own,” he told the mag. “I am really ready to have a family now. I need an outlet. I have so much I want to give, and I need someone to give it to.

Maks first appeared on DWTS in its second season, dancing with some top stars like boxer Laila Ali, the Spice Girls’ Mel B., and singer Brandy. I don’t blame him for wanting to move on to something new. He has his Mirrorball now. It’s time to move on to the next adventure!

Brooke Burke-Charvet Fired From Dancing With The Stars

Looks like Brooke Burke-Charvet has been eliminated. After eight seasons serving as co-host on Dancing With the Stars, the actress has been dropped from the show!

“We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season,” Conrad Green, executive producer of DWTS told Us Weekly in a statement. “She’s been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We’d like to thank Brooke for her years of great service.”

This is what Brooke had to say after hearing the news on Twitter:

Brooke first hit the show as a contestant alongside Derek Hough in season 7, taking home the beloved mirror ball trophy. She started hosting with Tom Bergeron in Season 10.

This isn’t the only shakeup that those behind the show have cooked up. Music director Harold Wheeler and the 28 members of his band that backed the dancers since the very beginning of the show!

I don’t know what’s going on at ABC, and what the network’s game plan is for the coming season, but I hope these changes don’t blow up in folks’ faces!

Dancing With The Stars Loses Real Star

Maksim_Chmerkovskiy

Because although the professional dancers are not considered the stars of the television show, do you think anyone really considers Misty May or Erin Andrews real stars?

Hell to the no!

No, the real stars are the professional dancers. They don’t have to get on the show to resurrect their careers or lose enough weight for their Scientology. Now comes word that one of the more famous dancers on the show, Maksim Chmerkovkiy, is leaving the show before the start of the next season. It seems that he really might be turning into a real star, with reported movie and television projects in the pipeline. For those worried about missing out on hot Russians whose names you cannot pronounce, remain calm. His brother Val is still signed up for the next season. And besides, Maksim may be back on the show as a ‘star’ faster than you can say Jean-Claude Van-Damme!

VIP EXCLUSIVE: Mario Lopez Is Part of Prize For GSN’s Dance Of a Lifetime Contest

Mario Lopez has signed up to be part of the “prize” for the “Dance of a Lifetime” contest hosted by GSN in celebration of their recent launch of Dancing with the Stars Season 12.

Celebrity VIP Lounge recently had the chance to ask Lopez about his involvement with this contest and why he decided to be a part of the winner’s prize.

Lopez told Celebrityviplounge.com, “I’ve been a fan of GSN for a while and had a great experience on Dancing with the Stars. I love dancing, and it’s my mom’s favorite show. So anytime I can keep dancing and keep doing stuff for her to keep her happy, I like to it. And I get to dance and promote a positive message at the same time, so why not? Win-win.”

And with that, YOU could have the chance to shake your groove thing alongside Mario and a professional ballroom dance instructor AND win yourself a trip for two to Hollywood.

Not only that but the Grand Prize winner will also receive a full DWTS-style makeover before the dance lesson, including wardrobe, hair and make-up. Wardrobe will be provided by Emmy Award-winning costume designer, Randall Christensen.

Martina Navratilova Talks Dancing With the Stars and she’s SCURRED!

Martina Navratilova, who will compete in the upcoming season of ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars” chatted with AARP.org about how she’s preparing for her dancing debut and how she feels about dancing in front of millions of Americans.

Here’s what she told AARP.org:

ON DECIDING TO JOIN THE CAST:

“They’ve been asking for years, and either I didn’t have the time to commit or I couldn’t picture myself in those high heels. I have an arthritic big toe — from playing too much soccer as a kid. So it hurts in high heels. But [ABC] told me I didn’t have to wear such high heels, so my toe apprehension was alleviated.”

ON HER FAVORITE DANCE MEMORIES:

“My best memory is from Billie Jean King’s 50th birthday party – a big bash in New York. It was at Denim & Diamonds, and I just danced the night away, mostly by myself. I had a couple of tequila shots and felt totally uninhibited. I was just glad it wasn’t me turning 50!”

ON HER WORST MEMORY OF DANCING:

“My worst memory is of my first dance lesson as a 14-year old in Prague. My mother put me in this silver and pink lame dress. My hair was all curled, and it was the first time I wore a garter belt. I felt so out of place! Every boy I danced with was going to be a mechanic. When they asked me I said, ‘I’m going to be a tennis player.’ And they said, ‘Oh? You can make a living doing that?’”

ON TRAINING FOR THE COMPETITION:

“I haven’t done anything this intense since I quit playing [competitive tennis] in 1994. But I think my body’s going to like it — it will be like coming home. It’s not as physical as playing tennis four hours a day, but it is pretty physical. I just have to be careful to not try to do too much, too soon.”

Unfortunately I don’t think there will be any tequila shots to swig before you get on the DWTS floor, girlfriend!

Who do you think will take home this year’s Mirror Ball trophy?

VIP Fashion Tip of the Day: How to Wear High Waisted Jeans

Photo via www.celebuzz.com

Pro dancer, Lacey Schwimmer, from Dancing With The Stars emerged recently wearing this lovely combo above. I don’t know what came over her to wear this outfit. Don’t get me wrong, I love high waisted jeans but they must be approached with caution! Lacey Schwimmer is a dancer and dancers have great bodies but this outfit does absolutely nothing for her figure. Not only are the jeans not flattering but why that blouse Lacey??

So, how do you avoid this look?
