Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Shia LaBeouf Arrested After Disorderly Conduct at Broadway Show

More trouble for Shia LaBeouf! Turns out the actor was really rowdy at a Broadway show in New York City, eventually getting handcuffed, escorted out, and charged with disorderly conduct!

Shia was reportedly disruptive during a production of Cabaret in the city on June 26. A source at the show said he was “harassing audience members, harassing actors on the stage, and chain smoking inside the theater,” during the first act. “Shia seemed out of sorts,” another source said. “He was interacting with strangers during the show and slapping peoples’ backsides. He was trying to avoid the police and fell. Then he was cursing at the police while being taken into custody.” His misbehavior got him escorted out by NYPD during intermission. Sadly, I can see this whole scene so clearly in my head.

According to Broadway World, bystanders on the street where Shia left say the actor was “in tears when taken away by police.”

An NYPD spokesperson later told Us Weekly that Shia “has been charged with disorderly conduct. He was also charged with criminal trespass. While at Studio 54 he was upsetting patrons, being loud and yelling. He’ll be jailed. There will be a court appearance for this matter.”

Who does this?! I feel bad, but then again I don’t. It’s obvious that something is going on with him, and he needs to work it out. To me, Shia has always been talented (and cute when he’s cleaned up), and I hate that another actor’s talent is seeming to go down the drain. Hopefully, he gets himself together soon! I’m not sure what’s going to happen now that he’s officially been charged. He might just get off, but who knows? Maybe some jail time will straighten him out a little bit.

Leighton Meester Making Broadway Debut in “Of Mice and Men”

Leighton Meester is moving on up from Gossip Girl! The actress is set to make her Broadway debut next year as a temptress in the revival of “Of Mice and Men.”

Producers said that Leighton will  act alongside James Franco and Chris O’Dowd in the story about an unlikely friendship between two migrant field workers in California during the Great Depression. The story by John Steinback focuses on dreamer George and mentally challenged Lennie. Leighton will play the wife of a ranch boss who Lennie gets drawn to.

Tony winner Anna D. Shapiro will direct the play, which hasn’t been on Broadway in 40 years. “Of Mice and Men” starts shows in March.

I’m excited for Leighton! She’s a great actress, and has continued to be outside of Blair Waldorf on the CW. I’m sure she’ll do great. I might just have to ride up to NYC and catch a show!

Broadway Wants Wendy Williams Real Bad

Broadway seems to love talk show diva Wendy Williams!

Williams recently announced that she will take on the role of Matron “Mama” Morton in Broadway’s Chicago this summer and NOW she will be adding another theater credit to her resume. The outgoing and quick-witted TV personality has been named to host the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards, which honor the best of The Great White Way, all hand-picked by Broadway’s biggest fans, on Sunday, May 5th at The Allen Room in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Time Warner Center, New York City.

Also joining Williams at this vibrant event are previously-announced heartthrob Aaron Tveit (Theater: Next To Normal, Catch Me If You Can; Film: Les Miserables) and Broadway sweetheart Sierra Boggess (The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary celebrations, Master Class, The Little Mermaid).

“I am thrilled to be joining the Broadway community this year both on stage and as a host for the 2013 Audience Choice Awards,” said Williams. “We in the entertainment industry understand the value of our fans, so to be hosting a show that is based entirely on their votes is something I am really looking forward to!”

Williams follows in the footsteps of Broadway vets, and Audience Choice Award-winners, Darren Criss, Daniel Radcliffe and Vanessa Williams, who have all previously taken on the role of host for this event. Williams might even have the chance to claim one of these coveted awards at next years’ ceremony, as the show touts a unique “Favorite Replacement” category.

“Wendy has become a daytime TV favorite thanks to her amazing connection to her fans and her infectious sense of fun,” said Paul Wontorek, Editor-in-Chief of Broadway.com. “These qualities make her the perfect hostess for the Audience Choice Awards, the biggest party of the Broadway award season.”

Nominations for the Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards were announced on Monday, with new musicals, Kinky Boots and Matilda leading the pack with eight and seven nominations respectively. The fans did not limit their nominations to just the newcomers though, recognizing some of Broadway’s veterans, including Patti LuPone, Norbert Leo Butz, Nathan Lane, and Scarlett Johansson for their efforts during this season. Through May 2nd, fans are invited to visit http://awards.broadway.com/vote/ and cast their votes.

Katie Holmes Heads Back To Broadway

Katie Holmes isn’t letting this divorce stop her! The actress has plans to return to Broadway this fall!  The news was announced Thursday that Katie will star in the in the dark comedy Dead Accounts.

In the new show, Katie will play Lorna, a woman looking for answers about her brother’s surprising return home. Additional casting news has yet to be released. The show, to be directed by Jack O’Brien, will play at the Music Box Theatre.

Katie has been loving New York lately, seen out and about in the area several times in the three weeks since her split from Tom Cruise.

She made her Broadway debut in 2008 in the revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons alongside John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson.

Good for her! And will Suri make a fashionable appearance for her mom’s opening night? Not sure, but it’s great to see Katie picking up and moving forward. She still has to make that paper, especially since that prenup Tom gave her is in FULL effect.

Mike Tyson is the Prostitute Hunter

Mike Tyson, the prostitute hunter? You don’t say. We know Mike is a tad on the cray cray side. He likes to eat ears for gawd’s sake. Well on the Today show this morning, we found out that the boxing legend is doing a one-man Broadway show called Undisputed Truth. Mike and his play’s director Spike Lee sat down to talk about his troubled past of drug abuse and his jail terms and women.

Tyson explained, “I [finally] threw up the white flag. There [were] too many prison cells. Too many jails. Too many lawyers. Too many lawsuits. Too many bankruptcies. Too many women. Too many venereal diseases. Too many everything. I want to live a different life… I was a prostitute hunter.”

So what will this Broadway play do for Tyson’s image? Lee told Ann Curry, “[He will show] the same courage he displayed in the ring. I think it will take just as much courage to go on stage, when you bare your soul to the audience. It’s captivating.”

Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth had a limited run in Las Vegas earlier this year.

As long as there is no ear gnawing, I think I would possibly check this one out.

Critics Had Some Strong Comments To Say About Ricky Martin’s Portrayal of Che Guevara in Evita!

Ricky Martin could be the best thing that ever happened to the Evita Broadway revival. And I can see why.

Reviewers are giving the Latin hottie big fat praise for the revamped production calling him impressive and appealing.

Martin portrays Che Guevara in the musical, opposite Argentine actress Elena Roger, and the reviews are mostly positive.

Here are a few of what the critics had to say:

Steve Suskin Variety said, “Director Michael Grandage scores with a dynamic new Evita, graced by an impressive performance from Argentinean actress Elena Roger and the ticket-selling presence of recording star Ricky Martin, who acquits himself nicely if not remarkably.”

The New York Daily News’ Joe Dziemianowicz says that Martin “gives an appealing performance”.

New York Post’s reviewer says Martin as Guevara is “a supernova of charisma”.

David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter said, “(Martin’s) dramatic presence could be more aggressive, but Martin’s Latin-pop vocals are a smooth fit for the role.”

The Associated Press’ Mark Kennedy writes, “He sings beautifully, dances gracefully, athletically climbs ladders, plays his role with a knowing sneer and elicits drools in his suspenders and tight white shirt. He even makes a mustache work. In fact, maybe it’s time for Broadway to have a new rule: Put Ricky Martin in everything… Heck, put him in Mary Poppins and watch the roof really lift off.”

How come I’m not surprised? Ricky Martin freakin’ rocks.
