Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

Beyoncé Talks About Sexual Liberation for OUT Magazine

Beyoncé became yet another star to channel Marilyn Monroe for her recent interview with OUT Magazine (she did it very well, though!). Sitting down with the mag, the star spoke about her decisions for her self-titled hit album, and her choice to use her music to inspire women to be sexual and confident. Check out some of the interview below!

On how she created a sexual liberation conversation with her latest album

I’d like to believe that my music opened up that conversation. There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality. There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. It’s not mutually exclusive.

[It was] much freer than anything I’d done in the past. We really just tried to trust our instincts, embrace the moment, and keep it fun.” As an illustration she singled out the video for “Drunk in Love,” a fan favorite. “We were in Miami for Jay’s concert, and it was just the two of us, on the beach, amazing weather, and one outfit! It’s beautiful in its simplicity. If you want something to feel real and urgent, you can’t overthink it.

On if it was her decision to have her voice sound raw and less polished for ‘XO’
When I recorded “XO” I was sick with a bad sinus infection. I recorded it in a few minutes just as a demo and decided to keep the vocals. I lived with most of the songs for a year and never rerecorded the demo vocals. I really loved the imperfections, so I kept the original demos. I spent the time I’d normally spend on backgrounds and vocal production on getting the music perfect. There were days I spent solely on getting the perfect mix of sounds for the snare alone. Discipline, patience, control, truth, risk, and effortlessness were all things I thought about while I was putting this album together.

On if she intentionally set out to make an album that feminist as well as the LGBT community could identify with
While I am definitely conscious of all the different types of people who listen to my music, I really set out to make the most personal, honest, and best album I could make. I needed to free myself from the pressures and expectations of what I thought I should say or be, and just speak from the heart. Being that I am a woman in a male-dominated society, the feminist mentality rang true to me and became a way to personalize that struggle…But what I’m really referring to, and hoping for, is human rights and equality, not just that between a woman and a man. So I’m very happy if my words can ever inspire or empower someone who considers themselves an oppressed minority…We are all the same and we all want the same things: the right to be happy, to be just who we want to be and to love who we want to love.

I know that there has been some controversy behind Bey shedding her pretty girl image, but I actually admire what she did with this album, not even just as a stan but as a woman. She’s married now and she’s a mommy yes, but that doesn’t mean that she still can’t stand strong in her business, in her music, and in her sexuality. All power to her!

Beyoncé Gets Emotional During Final Night of The Mrs Carter Show

Mrs. Carter’s run has come to an end for now. Beyoncé and her team said goodbye to the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Lisbon, Portugal, on March 27. The tour is the highest selling tour of Bey’s career, with her grossing over $200 million dollars!

The singer got a little choked up at the show in front of her fans, expressing her feelings about her accomplishments over the past year:

If y’all didn’t know, tonight makes 132 shows. Tonight is the last show of the Mrs. Carter Show. We started a year ago. I wanna say this has been such a journey. In the past year, we’ve been through so much together, the Super Bowl, shooting the videos, all of these shows.

When I first started the tour, my baby was not even walking. I just want you to know that I am so lucky. I’m giving ya’ll the ugly cry. Thank you for allowing me to have a career, and when I fall, you lift me up. And when I’m hungry, you feed me. And I just want to give you my light.

Check out Bey tearing up as she closes out the show with “XO” below!

Now, I have to admit, I LOVE Bey, but I’m a little salty at her that she’s not coming back to the U.S. to perform the songs off the new album. I saw her first U.S. leg of the show last summer before the album dropped. It was for the first time, so I was excited regardless. However, it would’ve been great to see the new songs too. Now, granted, a lot of us have already seen the performances on YouTube by zealous fans filming on their cameras with shaky hands. That’s no where near the same as season this woman live! So I’m a little upset as a stan, but I understand that after 132 shows, she needs time to relax. I’ll catch her again the next go round. UNLESS she decides to randomly pop up with another tour announcement later on this year like she did with the album (Maybe a Mr. and Mrs. Carter Show…!). It might sound like wishful thinking, but, hey, I honestly thought after a long time of hope that the album wasn’t coming until later this year, and look! Keep hope alive people!

CELEB SPOTTING: Beyoncé Visits Anne Frank House in Amsterdam

Every place she goes on The Mrs. Carter World Tour, Beyoncé  makes sure that she takes time out to experience the culture of the city she’s touring in! Amsterdam was no different as she and husband Jay-Z visited the Anne Frank House,  hours after Bey’s performance at the city’s Ziggo Dome.

According to the museum’s Facebook page, they spent “more than an hour inside and very impressed by their visit to the hiding place of Anne Frank.” The museum also posted a shot of the singer writing a message in the guestbook.

Beyoncé, notoriously known for sharing her life through pics on Instagram, shared some shots on the social media site too!

So awesome! I love these pictures. Needless to say Anne Frank is a huge figure in world history, and it’s cool that Bey and Jay took some time out to visit. Hopefully, one day in my travels, I’ll get to go there too!

Beyonce Shares Photos Of Recent Jamaican Vacation And Blue Ivy

We all know how hard Beyonce and Jay-Z work, but you know what? They certainly play harder! It seems to be the family motto.

While out on the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, Bey has taken some time off to enjoy the green land of Jamaica and she shared some photos of her and her family enjoying the beach life and the sun.

Yes, Blue Ivy is getting bigger and keeps on looking more like her daddy every single day.

Yes, Jay-Z is still sporting his bootleg Tom Ford jersey.

And yes, Blue Ivy is still being treated as if every day is her birthday.

Oh to be Blue Ivy…not a care in the world. She has no idea what kind of world she’s gotten into.

Bey will soon be heading back to work as her world tour is set to make stops in Germany, Holland and Spain.

[CELEB SPOTTING] Tina Knowles Has Masquerade Birthday Bash in New Orleans

Tina Knowles brought in her 60th birthday RIGHT! Heading down to New Orleans, Miss Tina had a sexy masquerade ball for her birthday, which was a huge celebrity-studded affair! Of course, daughters Beyoncé and Solange Knowles were in attendance, as well as Kelly Rowland and Jay-Z. Other celeb attendees included Jennifer Hudson, Monica and Shannon Brown, and even Kris Jenner! Check out some pics from the bash below!

The party looked like so much fun, and Miss Tina looked SNATCHED! I always wanted to throw a masquerade ball myself…the masks really pop and add a sense of mystery and sexiness. It’s cool that Solange and Bey threw their mama a hot party like this!

Beyonce’s Last Supper Controversy!

lastsupper

Beyonce was feeling inspired the other day, so much so that she decided to post this photo of herself on Instagram posing in a bright green skirt and light pink bustier. She was sitting on a countertop looking off to the side in the middle of a group of people at a table. It appears (at least to me anyways) that Bey is imitating Leonardo DaVinci’s famous painting of The Last Supper. You know, the one that features Jesus and his disciples gathered around a table breaking bread. The only thing is that you cannot see Jesus in this photo as Beyonce is blocking him.

While Bey did NOT write a caption with the photo, many people are making their own assumptions about the photograph. Is she mimicking the purpose behind the photo? Does she think she is like Kanye and another form of the messiah? Instead of Yeezus, should we all call her Beyzus?

All I have to say is that critics are having a hey-day. Is her head really getting to where she thinks she is holier than thou? Or was this photo taken JUST to spark controversy?

Sound off in the comments section below.

I think it will be interesting to see if Beyonce has anything to say about this photo or if she will let it slide under the wayside.

Beyonce and Jay-Z Dance To Drunk In Love (VIDEO)

beyonce-new-hairstyle_400x295_89

They went from Crazy In Love to Drunk In Love…Jay-Z and Beyonce spent Friday night hanging out at Atlanta’s Club Reign and they were feeling awfully generous.

TMZ is reporting that the couple dished out nearly $100,000 in drinks for the entire VIP section. Perhaps they were a little TOO drunk in love that night?

Jermaine Dupri, Bow Wow, The Dream and Trey Songz joined the duo as they sipped on D’usse and Ace of Spades all night.

You’d think Jay would have been worn out and stayed home after playing to a sold out crowd earlier in the evening, but it seemed as if hanging out at an afterparty was in the cards for the lovebirds.

And well…they do have a lot to celebrate. Beyonce’s new album is going for a third week on top of the Billboard 200 charts, while Jay has a record NINE Grammy nominations for his work this year.

It seemed like a pretty fun evening for Bey and Jay, especially after spotting them dancing to their new duet “Drunk In Love”.

Check out the two doing their thing below.

Beyonce Loses Over $3.8 Million Via Illegally Downloaded Copies Of “Beyonce”

beyonce-new-hairstyle_400x295_89

So you thought Beyonce was a marketing genius for her SURPRISE “Beyonce” release efforts? Well, let’s just say that it wasn’t totally glitch-free.

Billboard is reporting that Beyonce’s new self-titled album was illegally downloaded 240,000 times in the first 10 days since its release and that means a big fat loss in revenue. Girlfriend lost a reported $3.8 million because of the illegal downloads.

Even though Billboard is reporting just under a million REAL sales within the first 10 days AND a top Billboard 200 chart topping album for the past two weeks, Beyonce’s album could have had more money in her pocket.

But that’s not all the crappy news for the singer. The report also states that the former Destiny’s Child singer’s entire back catalog has been shared more than two million times using BitTorrent downloading sites. DAMN!

Throw in about 11,000 illegal downloads of her older albums and you’ve got even MORE lost money for the R&B superstar.

That’s a whole lot of money to NOT have in your pocket.

What do you think? Was Beyonce’s release of her album a smart move for her? Would she have generated that much buzz had she promoted it?

CELEB SPOTTING: Jay-Z and Beyoncé Go Vegan in Chicago

beyonce

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were in Chicago on Friday, in the midst of their 22-day vegan cleanse. Yesterday afternoon, the vegan cuisine that Beyoncé and Jay-Z selected was from Karyn’s Cooked at 738 North Wells Street.

While dining, Beyoncé met with Karyn Calabrese, Chicago’s renowned raw/vegan expert, and owner/chef of Cooked — as well as two other vegan-friendly restaurants in Chicago, including a fine dining experience (Karyn’s on Green) and the longest-standing raw food restaurant in the country (Karyn’s Raw Bistro).

An Open Letter To Beyonce

beyonce-new-hairstyle_400x295_89

Dear Beyonce,

These last few months, you seriously have been trying way too damn hard. But the past week especially? You are in overdrive with your fallacy and fuckery!

Taking a bike to your own show? How cutting edge! How brave! How balleress and real of you! Loved those photos of you traipsing your ass across the BK bridge, but you Photoshopped your security guards and stylists out of said photos.

And now you’ve cut, or shall we say, snatched the weave out of your head for a ‘real’ homie girl pixie cut? How different, how unique, how real. This is the biggest news story of the day when there are wars being fought all around the world, children going hungry, and Kardashians raising children?!

Excuse us as we go and slow vom in the corner.

You may be fooling the French with your name that they erroneously assume is classy when Americans know that’s just a ghetto name that ‘hit’ (Yoshika and Tawakani in the hood weren’t so lucky!). You may be fooling the general public in more ways than you can count, but we know that one of these days, one of the potions that Kelly, Solange, Michelle, LeToya, LeTavia, and Farrah is brewing will finally work and you’re going down for the count.

Wait for it. Wait for it!

Solange Knowles Cancels Tour Dates

Beyonce’s younger sister knows when to bow down and disappear for a while. Perhaps she should share this advice with Bey?

The singer was set to begin a European tour starting in August, but just announced its cancellation, citing a need to protect her physical and mental health. Hey, at least she did not use the old standby that most celebs use: ‘exhaustion’. Instead, Solange released a statement2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party:

“I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was but between moving part time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/recording my new record. I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family.”

Congratulations to Solange for putting family and health first instead of going on tour and then going full-blown cray. Perhaps Amanda Bynes is more inspiring than she knows?!

Beyonce: When Weaves Attack!

In Montreal, the un-beweavable almost happened when the singer got entrapped in her own hair. And when we say her hair, we mean her hair as in since she bought it, it’s hers —- got caught in a stage fan as she serenaded the crowd. As the booted members of Destiny’s Child laughed from the rafters, Beyonce kept her cool and her crew ran on sage to save her tracks…and her life!

Using a pair of scissors, Beyonce’s expensive yaki hair was snipped, she was set free, and the party continued. After the concert, Beyonce responded to the drama on stage with a simple…

“I was snatched!”

She said it, folks. Not us!

Beyonce “Standing On The Sun” Leaked: LISTEN HERE

beyonce

Well, all you Bey stans will be super pumped to know that another new song has been leaked. Ahem. And by leaked, I mean that Bey’s record label more than likely secretly released the track and then said, oh em gee someone leaked the song, oh dammit! I’m not gonna lie, but the song is pretty good.

At any rate, Bey’s song “Standing on the Sun” is out there for your listening pleasure and you can check it out via our friends at Hollywood Hiccups here. Enjoy!
