Celebrity Gossip Heard All Over The Web

The Arsenio Hall Show Is Officially Canceled

Television can be unpredictable, and Arsenio Hall knows all too well. After his late night talk show, The Arsenio Hall Show, was renewed back in February, news came today that the show will not be returning for a second season.

CBS Television Distribution took back the decision, canceling the show after only one season. “Unfortunately, The Arsenio Hall Show will not return for a second season; while there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” CBSTVD said in a statement Friday. “Arsenio is a tremendous talent and we’d like to thank him for all the hard work and energy he put into the show. We’d also like to thank Tribune and all our station group partners for their support of the show.”

Arsenio said in a statement, “When I started this adventure with CTD and Tribune, we all knew it would be a challenge — I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created. I’d like to thank everyone on my staff for rallying around me and striving to make the best show possible every night.”

This really sucks! Arsenio is a really talented host, and has had a lot of great interviews and performances with celebrities the entire season. Unfortunately though, in a market where everyone is breaking into talk shows, the ratings are split, and it’s rough competition to stay afloat. Sad that Arsenio didn’t make the cut, but I’m sure this won’t be the last we hear of him. Or, at least, I hope not!

The Arsenio Hall Show Renewed for a Second Season

Arsenio Hall got a really nice surprise on the set of The Arsenio Hall Show during Wednesday night’s episode! Turns out that CBS picked up a second season of his talk show…and Jay Leno came out to surprise him with the good news!

After sneaking up behind Arsenio, Jay told him and the audience  the news. Arsenio hugged him, saying “How come I don’t get my news first?!” Jay replied, “He’s more annoyed that I knew before he did!” Jay then joked, “Actually, in the second season, I’m going to be hosting. They didn’t tell you that part!”

Check out the surprise below!

“We are thrilled that Arsenio will be returning for a second season,” Joe DiSalvo, president of sales at CBS Television Distribution said in a statement. “We knew Arsenio had a built-in fan base, but he’s also reaching a new generation. This season, Arsenio has been the youngest late-night talk show on broadcast television and has given our station partners a real alternative for their late-night lineups.”

Arsenio also said in a statement, “Since 9/9/13, I’ve been waking up without an alarm clock. Producing and hosting my late-night talk show brings me great joy. I’m back where I belong! Thanks to my partners at CBS Television Distribution and Tribune.”

I’m really happy for Arsenio! Averaging 6.7 million views a week, the show has been doing very well, and has had a slew of great artists and other celebs come on. Arsenio’s naturally a good host, so it’ll be great to see another season. Hopefully there’s many more to come!

Arsenio Hall is officially returning to talk television! He’s partnering again with CBS Television Distribution for another late-night talk show.

“We’re excited to welcome Arsenio back to the family and partnering on his new, late-night syndicated talk show,” CBSTVD president John Nogawski said, announcing the news. “Arsenio had a substantial following with his previous late-night show, and that same 18-34 audience is now right in the middle of the late-night core audience of 35-54. Years ago, he transcended time periods and attracted a crossover audience while bringing a fresh perspective to late night. That same need in the market exists today as when we originally launched. We are looking forward to the same success with Arsenio’s seasoned expertise and appeal in this genre.”

Arsenio’s definitely excited to be headed back on the air.”It’s an amazing feeling to be going home to my old friends and colleagues and firing up our ‘Night Thing,’ ” Hall said. “Let’s get busy … again!” His former show, The Arsenio Hall Show, ran from 1989-1994.

Arsenio’s new show has already been cleared in markets including Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Detroit, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Denver, Cleveland, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Mo., Greensboro, N.C., and Norfolk, Va.  The untitled-for-now show will hit televisions in fall 2013.

Not exactly sure what the new show will be like, but I might check it out just to see what it’s going to be like. Winning Apprentice this season definitely put him back on the map!
