Jimmy Fallon Announces New Picture Book for Kids

Jimmy Fallon is once again using his comedic skills to reach out to kids! The Tonight Show host has written a new picture book to be released next year!

Feiwel and Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, announced today that it will be releasing Jimmy’s new book, titled Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA.

The father of one-year-old Winnie Rose wrote a children’s book, Snowball Fight!back in 2005, but this is the first one he’s written since he became a dad. He uses his own parenting experience in the book. According to the official press release, the picture book is “a hilarious account of every father’s secret campaign to ensure that their babies’ first word is Dada -– not Mama!” Throughout the story, illustrated creatures — from cows, sheep, and horses to mice and frogs — try to get their babies to say “Dada,” first. Baby Winnie’s first word was “Mama,” so it’s clear that Jimmy had some feelings to get out with this book! All in good fun, of course!

“This is one of the few celebrity books that you can tell was actually written by the celebrity,” Jimmy said in the press release. “And my baby personally approved of the beautiful artwork by Miguel Ordóñez.” Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA will be released on June 9, 2015.

‘August: Osage County’ Actress Misty Upham Death Confirmed

Sad news! A spokeswoman for the family of Misty Upham has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter the actress has, in fact passed away.

The actress was reported missing on October 6. A body was then found in a ravine in Seattle, WA on Thursday afternoon, and it was confirmed that it was Misty, sadly. According to filmmaker and Misty’s friend Tracy Rector, Misty’s uncle Robert Upham, found her body, and her father, Charles Upham, confirmed that it was her to the authorities.  “We waited at the site where the team found the body,” said Tracy, who had been a part of the search party. “It took about five-and-a-half hours to confirm. Then we gathered around her body to say prayers and now we’re all gathered at the church.” Though her father had previously said that Misty suffered from bipolar disorder, and was off her medication when she went missing, leading him to believe that she could be suicidal. However, after seeing the body, the family felt that she didn’t.

The family is, however, angry with the Auburn Police Department, saying that the police slacked in helping with the search. “First and foremost,” Tracy continued in her interview with THR, “the family wants everyone to know that the Auburn police did not help with this situation at all. They refused to help. When she disappeared on Oct. 5, the family knew something was seriously wrong — it was out of character for her to be gone so long without being in touch — and they repeatedly went to the police, who insisted there was no cause for concern.”

This is a sad situation all around. Misty was only 32, and her cause of death is still unclear. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends!

It’s terrible

Katy Perry Will Perform at the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Football season is just getting started, but we already have our set performer for Super Bowl 2015! The NFL has chosen Katy Perry to perform at the halftime show of the championship game!

According to Billboard, the singer was picked after being a potential frontrunner along with Coldplay and Rihanna (though Rihanna probably wasn’t going to do it anyway after CBS cut “Run This Town” from the Thursday Night Football opening).

However, a few months ago the NFL asked the candidates if they would be willing “to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.” Katy herself said on ESPN’s College Game Day recently, “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl.” Guess she either changed her mind, or the NFL cut that idea!

I like Katy, and I think she is a great choice for a halftime performance. I use to think that artists with more longevity in the industry should only perform, but I think we’re running out of legendary folks who can put on good shows to draw in ratings. Katy definitely has brought the hits over her career so far, so I think she will be able to put on an amazing show. Congrats to her for this honor!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are Married!

STOP THE PRESSES! Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally gotten married!

According to USA Today, the couple was married in a private ceremony on Saturday in France, surrounded by close family and friends. All of their kids were involved in the ceremony, as well. Eldest sons Maddox, 13 and Pax, 10 walked their mother down the aisle. Zahara 9, and Vivienne, 6, threw flower petals, and Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers.

It had been reported by the Daily Mail reported that the family had been spotted in France on Friday, but no one knew why. It was probably just thought to be a vacation.

The couple was engaged back in April 2012. However, in 2013, Angelina underwent a double mastectomy, and since then, the couple has been busy filming, so there was no idea of when a wedding would take place.

I’m so happy for them! I always said that, when the time was right for them, they would tie the knot. Congrats to them, and best wishes!

20/20 Anchor Elizabeth Vargas Goes To Rehab For Alcoholism

20/20 anchor Elizabeth Vargas checked herself into a rehabilitation center over the weekend to seek help with her alcohol dependency.

“While on vacation this weekend, I decided to return to a recovery center,” Vargas said in a statement to Us Weekly. “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process.”

The journalist recently spent time before in rehab this past November, saying in a statement that she “was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol” and thanked her family and her colleagues at ABC News for their support. She returned back to work in January 2014, being real about her struggles and her husband Marc Cohn‘s request for her to seek help.

“I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down, and for that I am ashamed and sorry,” Elizabeth said in her statement this weekend. “I am committed to battling and addressing this debilitating disease and want to thank everyone who has offered their unwavering support during this trying time.”

ABC News believes that Elizabeth will return to the show, but acknowledges that her health is the main focus writing now. The network said in a statement, “Nothing is more important than Elizabeth’s health and well-being and we stand squarely behind her. Our thoughts are with Elizabeth and her family and we look forward to having her back at ABC News when she feels ready to return.”

Alcoholism truly is a disease, and I hope that Elizabeth is able to overcome it. It’s hard, but she’s strong and can do it. Best wishes to her on her journey.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy is officially done with dancing! During his appearance on The View on July 29, the dancer announced he will no longer perform on ABC’s hit dancing competition, Dancing With the Stars!

“I’m done dancing,” he said on the daytime talk show. “I feel like it’s time.” Maks continued, explaining his decision, “When I came back to the show, it was not the same—I was different, probably. (He first left in February 2013 after season 16.) “When I came back, I saw this amazing talent…I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better. I was taking up a huge spot.”

This year, he returned for season 18, and took home the Mirrorball trophy for the first time with Olympic ice skater Meryl Davis. After his win, Maks first hinted that he was ready to leave the competition behind for good during an interview with Social Life magazine. “I want Meryl to be the last person I dance with,” he said in June. “The last person I got to be passionate with and care so much for.” The dancer apparently discussed plans to start a family, too. “I raised so many children at the studio that I am ready to create one of my own,” he told the mag. “I am really ready to have a family now. “Jenni and Roger are so excited to welcome the newest guidette Meilani Alexandra Mathews to the world weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz.,” Jenni’s rep told MTV News. “Meilani and her parents are doing great and are happy and healthy. Meilani is already looking to trade her baby bottle for barbells.”

MTV also congratulated the couple, saying in a statement: “We’re fist pumping in celebration of Jenni “JWOWW” Farley and Roger Mathews’ new baby girl Meilani Alexandra Mathews. We’re so excited for the new parents and to welcome the newest member to the MTV family.”

Roger announced to his Twitter followers that his baby girl had finally arrived, saying,

The new parents announced that they were expecting a baby last Christmas, revealing shortly after that they were having a girl. And even though Jenni didn’t have the best pregnancy (she called it “the worst thing ever“), the reality star had her best friend Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, also of Jersey Shore fame and her co-star on Snooki & JWOWW, along for the ride. “She’s always been by my side, and then to find out that she’s pregnant, this made me feel a thousand times better, ’cause I get to experience this with her,” Jenni said in a previous interview with MTV News. Snooki herself is expecting another baby, a girl as well, with her fiance Jionni LaValle.

I am in love the baby’s name! Sounds beautiful and elegant, almost like she’s royalty. Princess of the guidettes I guess! Anyway, congrats to Jenni, Roger, and their families!

Sherri Shepherd Leaving The View, Jenny McCarthy Might Be Rolling Out Too!

It’s official! This will be the last season of The View for Sherri Shepherd. The co-host announced that she will be leaving the talk show after 7 years.

“It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on,” Sherri said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.

Jenny McCarthy, who’s only been on the show for one season, responded to the news with some tweets that implied she might be leaving herself pretty soon.

TMZ has suggested that both Sherri and Jenny (if she really is leaving), are not going voluntarily, but had been fired due to ratings and personality conflicts. The site also said that Bill Geddie, the executive producer, would not be returning to the show either. An anonymous source told Entertainment Weekly that Sherri might just be replaced by a male co-host next fall. A statement from ABC did not make the firing rumors any better. “’The View’ will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively,” the network said, according to Huffington Post.

This change to the lineup would leave Whoopi Goldberg as the sole host of the show, since Barbara Walters is retiring after this season. ABC is really going to have to work to find some great new faces. I would say it’s time to hang up the hat on the show, but I still think the concept of the show is and always has been great. Bringing together hosts with different views  to discuss hot topics in the world, whether politics, world events, or pop culture, has really worked for the show. That’s why other talk shows have been created along the same line. Hopefully, ABC is able to bring together a good lineup!

Joan Lunden Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Joan Lunden returned to Good Morning America on Tuesday morning, June 24, to reveal some very personal news with viewers. The television journalist announced that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Joan sat down with GMA‘s Robin Roberts, who also battled breast cancer in 2007, saying that she will undergo surgery, and will also do chemotherapy and radiation treatments. “I heard those words that every woman fears and never wants to hear, ‘You have breast cancer,'” she revealed to Robin and viewers. “In the beginning, it’s such a shock. It’s a stunner… For me, I’m a health advocate, I’m all over America talking to women, saying, ‘Make sure that you get all of your checkups all the time.’ You almost feel like, ‘What did I do wrong?’ Joan, continued, “Because we found it early, I was able to tell [my children] that mommy’s going to be okay. I have the more aggressive kind, and so it’s going to be the chemotherapy and the surgery and the radiation. So I’ve got that journey ahead.” Joan is the mother of seven children, all between the ages of 33 and nine.

After her appearance on Good Morning America, Joan tweeted her thanks to Robin and the entire GMA team, writing, “Thank you to @robinRoberts and my @gma family for all your support this morning.” The journalist herself was on the show for 17 years, leaving in 1997.

Something like this is always sad to hear. However, it’s inspiring that Joan is in good spirits, and plans to fight! Thoughts and prayers are with her and her family at this difficult time.

The Brady Bunch’s Ann B. Davis Dead at 88

Sad news! Ann B. Davis, best known for her role as witty housekeeper Alice Nelson on the hit sitcom, The Brady Bunch, has died at the age of 88.

A close friend of the actress, Bishop William Frey, said that she died at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas, where she was treated after hitting her head in a fall. After suffering  a subdural hematoma, he said, she never regained consciousness.

Actress Florence Henderson, who played mom Carol Brady on the show, was sad to hear of her former co-star’s death. “I am so shocked and sad to learn that my dear friend and colleague, Ann B Davis, died today,” she said in a Facebook post. “I spoke with her a couple of months ago and she was doing great!”

Back in 2004, in speaking with the Archive of American Television, Davis described how she created the famous character. “I made up a background story. I did have a twin sister, so I used that as a basis. I cared very much about this family. It was my family. It was as close to my family as Alice would ever get. I would have died for any single one of them at any point,” she said. “You know, they wrote me such gorgeous things to do, as the intermediary between the kids and the adults, and between the boys and the girls. And they gave me funny things to do.” The role earned her two Emmys, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Though her character was great with kids and housework, Davis admitted in an interview with People magazine in 1992 that she was not like her character much at all. “I basically don’t do that well with children, although my sister says I’m a great aunt,” she said, also stating that she hated to cook. “When it’s my turn in the house,” she told the magazine, “we just eat out.”

So sad to hear of her passing! She was definitely an iconic actress whose legacy will live on.  Thoughts go out to her family and friends.
