Derek Hough Snags Role on ABC’s Nashville

Looks like Derek Hough is branching out! The Dancing with the Stars professional will join hit ABC show Nashville in its upcoming season for several episodes!

According to PEOPLE, Derek will play Noah West, a movie star who gets a leading role in the biopic of a famous country singer, interacting with a lot of the characters on the show. And, apparently, the guy is a sneak! ABC says the role requires him to play a “beguiling and disarming” guy.

Derek tweeted his excitement:

I absolutely LOVE the storylines, characters, and music of Nashville. Excited to see what Derek’s storyline brings to the table! Since he’s probably a bad boy, I’m sure he’ll bring the drama!

Natalie Portman Directing First Feature Film in Jerusalem

Natalie Portman is working TRIPLE time for her next project! It’s been announced that the award-winning actress has received  a grant from the Jersualem Film Fund to direct a film adaptation of Israeli writer Amos Oz‘s memoir, A Tale of Love and Darkness. Not only that! The actress will star in the film as Oz’s troubled mother, AND write the screenplay!

The Jerusalem Film Fund awarded grants totaling nearly NIS 6 million to 11 new projects, out of 114 that were submitted. The fund was founded in 2008 to support films that are set in Jerusalem.

A Tale of Love and Darkness revolves around the author’s mother’s mental illness and his father’s attempts to help her during the 1940s. Filming in Jersualem is scheduled tentatively for January 2014.

Though this is her first time taking the helm for a feature film, Natalie has directed before. She’s been behind the camera for a couple of short films, as well as a segment for 2009’s New York, I Love You.

Being that Natalie is Israeli-born, this story and film is sure to be close to her heart! I’m happy for her, and excited to see what she brings to the table!

What do you think of Natalie’s newest project?

Kendall Jenner to Make Acting Debut

Kendall Jenner is turning away from reality tv for a bit to focus on acting! The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, announced that she will be making her acting debut in an appearance on an upcoming episode of the CBS police drama series Hawaii Five-O.

“I am SO excited to reveal to you all that I am going to be making my acting debut on Hawaii Five-O!! My episode will air in October this year and I can’t wait to get started on filming,” the teen, who also has a modeling career, wrote on her blog. “This is such an incredible opportunity for me and I’m excited for this new experience!!!”

This marks the third season for the remake.

Kendall is apparently following after big sister Kim Kardashian. In January, Kim has a recurring role on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, in which she portrays relationship expert Nikki LePree.

Good for Kendall! Contrary to what others thought about Kim, she wasn’t bad at acting, so I’m hoping Kendall will be good too!

Tyler Perry Defends Kim Kardashian and Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Acting Skills

Tyler Perry is coming to the defense of Kim Kardashian and Bobbi Kristinasaying that they’re both great new actresses that he’s happy to have worked with.

The director first cast Kim in his upcoming film, The Marriage Counselor, in which she plays Ava, a friend/co-worker of  the main character Judith, played by Jurnee Smollett.

“She’s a good actress,” Tyler raved to reporters about Kim at the NYC premiere of Madea’s Witness Protection. “She did a really good job.” With Kim being deemed a typical reality bimbo, as well as being involved in one of the biggest headlined divorces in celeb history, he obviously faced fire for casting her into the film. “There was a lot going on with her marriage and all that stuff at the time,” he explained, referring to Kim’s divorce filing from Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage. “All that stuff that’s in the past. The movie’s called The Marriage Counselor. Of course it had something to do with that.”

Tyler also spoke well of Bobbi Kris, who he recently cast as a recurring character for his TBS series For Better Or Worse. “She did a fantastic job. That kid has such a future,” he said. “She’s such an actor. I’m so proud of her. I’m telling you. As far as she wants to go in this business, she can.”

In terms of casting Bobbi Kristina so soon after her mother Whitney Houston’s passing this past February, it’s not a decision he regrets.  “The whole purpose of that was to make sure that she was around people who cared, who loved her,” he explained. “What I found when my mother died is that you have to be around people who you trust. And I was glad that I could be there.”

Honestly, I’m excited to see both working in these Tyler Perry projects. I’ve been watching Kim, who presently has a recurring role on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, and she’s pretty good! Who would’ve thunk? I think with some more acting classes, she could go on to do some other roles. As far as Bobbi Kristina, I’m not sure what she’ll bring to the table, but entertainment’s in her blood, so I’m sure she has potential as well.

PHOTOS: See Lindsay Lohan On the Set of Glee!

Lindsay Lohan may have had her lows in her career and life, but she’s seeming to stage a comeback as she guest stars on the May 15th episode of Glee (8 p.m. ET on Fox).

In the two-hour special, Lindsay will play herself, serving as a judge for the Nationals competition as McKinley High tries to redeem themselves after last season’s lost. The glee club will take on show choir rival Vocal Adrenaline in front of a panel of celebrity judges, including Lindsay, Rex Lee and Perez Hilton.

The casting news was announced in March weeks after Lindsay hosted Saturday Night Live. “Glee was fun to do!” she tweeted Monday. “It made me want to live in a world of musicals where people always just burst out into song & dance!”

Her next role? Lindsay is going to star as silver screen legend Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

I’m actually really excited to see Lindsay on Glee next week, as well as for the Elizabeth Taylor movie! No matter what, the girl is talented. I hope that her life is together for good this time, and that she continues to get great roles.

Rihanna Putting Music Career on Hold?

It seems as if what I thought may happen is probably going to happen. Rihanna is taking a break from music. While many of you are probably bowing down to the heavens in thanks, you need to settle down. You may not be hearing the eh-eh-eh’s for a hot minute, but you WILL be seeing her on the big screen if she has anything to say about it. And who knows, those eh-eh-eh’s may come out on a soundtrack, so simmah down.

Sure she makes her big screen debut in board game-based blockbuster Battleship alongside Liam Neeson and Alexander Skarsgard, playing a navy cadet who helps fight an alien invasion but she is wanting more. More films. And she hopes to close out her concert commitments so she can focus on the big screen.

She tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, “There are some festivals here and there throughout the year but I want to do some more films before I go back on tour.” Rihanna hasn’t decided on her next movie project, but she hopes to try out comedy before returning to action films. I don’t want to stick to one thing yet. I want to see where I excel. I want to try things – comedy and probably another action film.”

REPORT: Bobbi Kristina Starring In Tyler Perry Sitcom

Bobbi Kristina may still be grieving after the untimely death of her mother, legendary songstress Whitney Houston. And now she has the crazy stunts of her father Bobby Brown, who was just arrested for a DUI, to deal with. However, she is still moving forward with her life, and could possibly be hitting TV sets across the country soon!

Reports are that famed director and actor, Tyler Perry, has given Bobbi Kris a a role on his sitcomFor Better or For Worse, which has been picked up for a 2nd season on TBS.

Last month, the network ordered 35 more episodes of the series and it’s scheduled to air starting in July 2012. The series stars Tasha Smith (Angela) and Michael Jai White (Marcus) and is based on Tyler’s 2007 film Why Did I Get Married? and the 2010 sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? Tasha’s character, Angela, owns her own beauty salon, and Tyler has supposedly casted Bobbi Kristina in a recurring role as one of the stylists at the shop.

The upcoming actress has apparently been spotted coming and going from Tyler Perry’s Atlanta Studios for a few weeks now, with her brother/boy toy Nick Gordon right by her side. Whitney’s manager/sister-in-law/best friend and aunt to Bobbi Kris, Pat Houston, has also been seen at the studio.

This should be big! I definitely want to see if Bobbi Kristina got the acting genes from her mom. Who knows? This may open the door for some other big opportunities. It’s good of Tyler to give her a chance, possibly to keep her out of trouble and on the right path to her dreams of being an actress and singer. Don’t blow it girl!

Kim Kardashian Lands Role on ‘Drop Dead Diva’

Well, looky look at Kim Kardashian making her way in the acting world!

Access Hollywood has confirmed that the reality star will join the cast of Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva” for a recurring role in Season 4 of the show. Kim will play Nikki, a new love interest for angel-on-earth Fred (Ben Feldman). The new relationship will definitely stir up some trouble for Fred’s ex-girlfriend, Stacy (April Bowlby), who Nikki will team up with on a new business venture.

“I’m ecstatic to welcome Kim to the Diva family,” creator and executive producer Josh Berman said in a statement. “In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I’m blown away by her smarts, sense of humor, and passion. This series is all about reinvention and I’m so excited to see Kim ‘reinvented’ in the world of ‘Drop Dead Diva.’”

The show, which stars Brooke Elliott, begins filming its fourth season, next month, and will premiere in the summertime.

Meanwhile, Kim also has a role in the upcoming Tyler Perry flick, The Marriage Counselor, set to hit theaters on July 27, 2012!

Kim may only be famous for being on a reality show (among…other things), but she’s an entrepreneur. Say what you want about Kim, but you can’t say that she doesn’t get PAID! And Lifetime and Tyler Perry are very smart in casting her, because they will definitely pick up new viewers, just off of the fact that Kim was featured in their work. It’s a win-win. I can’t knock the hustle!

Brad Pitt Will Not Be Acting At 80

Brad Pitt is retiring from acting…in about 30 years.

Some actors work well into their 80s. Brad Pitt won’t be one of them.

“Will I be acting when I’m 80?” he asks rhetorically in a new USA Weekend profile. “Definitely not.”

He says his children play a big factor in what projects he’ll do.
