Looks like The-Dream is facing some serious legal issues! The singer-producer apparently turned himself in to New York City police today, reportedly been charged with two felonies for an alleged assault on Lydia Nam, the mother of one of his children.
According to TMZ, the attack reportedly took place in April 2013, but Nam didn’t report to the police about the incident until last November (A little mysterious…). Last week, it was reported that Dream was wanted by police for questioning.
The charges included assault and strangulation, as well as reckless endangerment and child endangerment. Nam claims that Dream punched, kicked and strangled her while she was still pregnant with their son. That brings the baby’s life into the forefront, and will definitely be taken into consideration if this goes to trial.
No direct word from The-Dream or anyone on his team as of yet, but he is reportedly still in custody. Sources close to him claim that the charges are “bogus.”
If this indeed is true, Dream could be facing some serious time. It’s possible though, unfortunately, as a celebrity, he could get off with something like this. Regardless, at the end of the day, domestic abuse isn’t acceptable on either side, and, again if it’s true, he should face some type of real punishment, not just a slap on the wrist with probation and community service.
