Christian Bale Visits Colorado Shooting Victims

He played one of our greatest superheroes on the big screen. Now he is showing heroism and true kindness in real life.

Christian Bale visited victims at the Medical Center of Aurora South, and is apparently acting on his own behalf and not as a representative for Warner Bros.

The star had previously released a statement of condolence, in which he expressed his horror concerning Holmes’ depraved crime.

Teens entered to win a free concert at their school by watching an online Candie’s Foundation education PSA.

If y’all didn’t know, the month of May is National Teen Pregnancy Prevention month, and The Candie’s Foundation has played an imperative role in the collective effort to decrease the teen birth rate through education. Because of this, the past month has been host to several events to rase awareness and educate teens.

CELEB SPOTTING: Chris and Kyle Massey and Dallas Austin Listen Carefully

Brothers Chris and Kyle Massey and Dallas Austin stopped by Central Middle School in Eden Prairie, MN on behalf of the Starkey Hearing Foundation and Scholastic.

More than 1,400 students and teachers assembled to mark the launch of Listen Carefully – a national hearing awareness campaign that promotes one simple message: Hearing is fragile. So don’t listen loudly. Listen carefully.

Austin mixed beats on his Beat Thang beat machine, while the Massey brothers entertained the crowd with their hip dance moves. Creating an interactive learning experience, numerous students also participated in on-stage activities, including a dance competition.

Students and teachers also took part in demonstrations on better hearing techniques. Special guest Dr. Dave Fabry, Starkey Hearing Technologies, led the demonstrations, which included a hearing loss simulation to show students how music would sound to a person with a hearing impairment.

“There are a growing number of young people in our nation that are experiencing hearing loss because they play music and video games at dangerously high volume levels,” said Bill Austin, Founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation. “This is why we developed Listen Carefully and why yesterday’s event was important in marking our commitment to reach young people nationwide and their teachers with the Listen Carefully message.”

CELEB SPOTTING: Alicia Keys Brother Cole Cook Raises $250K On His Bday

Alicia Keys Brother Cole Cook Raises $250k On His BDay

Go shorty! It’s your birthday! It was Alicia Keys’ brother Cole Cook’s 21st birthday recently and instead of spending his birthday money on booze and strippers, he donated ALL of the proceeds to charity.

It looks as though Mr. Cook is following in his sisters’ philanthropy footsteps. This past weekend he celebrated his 21st birthday with Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz and friends while raising $250,000 to go towards his sister’s charity, ‘Keep A Child Alive’. Swizzy also laced him with 21 bottles of Ace of Spades during the celebration. Bottles be poppin’!

In addition to Alicia and Swizz, Cuba Gooding Jr, Mike Nitis Designer of Christian Louboutin, MBK and Ruff Ryders Family stopped by to show their support.

Cyndi Lauper Backs Animal Adoption

Cyndi Lauper is a lover of animals…so much so I’m surprised she’s not working for PETA. What Cyndi is doing is urging her fans to adopt abandoned animals because it’s “the responsible choice” to support shelters.

Lauper recently signed up as a spokesperson for the North Shore Animal League America organization’s Tour For Life campaign. This particular campaign helps raise awareness for the adoption of animals.

Here’s the deal. There will be three mobile rescue and adoption units that will tour the U.S. throughout March and April in a bid to raise awareness of the cause and Lauper is in full support of the scheme.

She says, “I am excited to join Tour For Life and encourage animal lovers to welcome shelter pets, also known as Mutt-i-grees, into their homes. There are so many beautiful and healthy animals in shelters, making the responsible choice an easy one – animal lovers can show their true colours by adopting a pet and saving a life.”

I fully support this idea but I also believe that peeps need to get their animals spayed or neutered. These animals can’t be running around getting their freak on and overpopulating the world either.

CELEB SPOTTING: Orianthi and James Durbin Rock Out With Their…

Guitars out!

Rock guitar Goddess Orianthi and American Idol finalist James Durbin (who was the metal dude) performed at a benefit concert to help raise scholarship money for the Rock School Scholarship Fund, a non-profit group that raises money for kids nationwide who want to attend a rock school.

In addition to rocking out on stage, the duo took time to interact with the kiddies.

Orianthi said, “I had so much fun jamming out with the kids. They are all so talented and sweet. I knew from when I was six that music would be my life and I used to spend most of my time in the music room. It’s sad to hear that music programs are often removed from public schools, so it meant a lot to be a part of the Rock School Scholarship Fund show.”

James threw in his two cents saying, “If it weren’t for music scholarships I wouldn’t have been able to learn what I know now. I play music because it’s what I love to do and every single kid that I met at the event had that same fire. I’m so happy I got to do this because it reminds me to have fun. Playing with those kids brought my fire back. The fire that made me want to be a singer in the first place. A huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to the RSSF, the teachers, all the kids and to anyone and everyone who supports this great cause.”

I bet the kids had a blast!

Garth Brooks and Starkey Hearing Foundation Give Gift of Hearing in Indianapolis

With the help of a star-studded line up of football and entertainment legends, Starkey Hearing Foundation, which strives to change the social consciousness of hearing and hearing health care, delivered the gift of hearing yesterday to more than 250 hearing impaired children and adults from the Indianapolis area ranging in age from 3 to 92.

TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY! Amazing. The event, which marked the Foundation’s 3rd annual Super Bowl Week Hearing Mission, was held at the SportZone in Indianapolis.

In what has become an annual tradition for Starkey, the Super Bowl Hearing Mission received help from a “super” team of Foundation friends:

· Garth Brooks – Grammy-Winning Country Music Artist
· Justin Hines – Canadian Singer/Songwriter
· Dallas Clark – Indianapolis Colts, Tight End
· Larry Fitzgerald Jr. – Arizona Cardinals, Wide Receiver
· Eric Wood – Buffalo Bills, Center
· Andy Levitre – Buffalo Bills, Offensive Lineman
· William Witherspoon – Tennessee Titans, Linebacker
· Ryan Kerrigan – Washington Redskins, Linebacker
· Jim McMahon – Chicago Bears, Quarterback (Retired)
· Joe DeLamielleure – NFL Hall of Famer, Buffalo Bills Offensive Guard (1973-1985)
· Matt Forte – Chicago Bears, Running Back
· Tommie Harris – San Diego Chargers, Defensive End
· Mike Gaines – Formerly with Houston Texans, Tight End

These celebrity volunteers joined Bill Austin, Founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation, and his team of experts in fitting local children and adults with state-of-the-art, custom-made hearing aids. The Foundation’s distribution of hearing aids is part of their mission so the world may hear, and goal to distribute 1,000,000 hearing aids by 2020.

Among the day’s recipients was Catherine Donaldson, a legally deaf 52-year-old single mother of six from Indianapolis whose 15-year-old daughter wrote Starkey Hearing Foundation to help surprise her mother with a new set of hearing aids. “I am asking in the hopes that your company could help me surprise my mom with new hearing aids, because she will never complain or ask for this help, when she desperately needs it,” said Michelle Buckallew in a letter to the Foundation. “I’m hoping with all your mission trips you have done, you can find a way to help me with my mom.” Michelle’s letter reached Austin, and her wish was granted. Catherine, who was only expecting to receive ear impressions to have hearing aids made at a later time once she was able to afford them, was surprised with a new set of state-of-the-art hearing aids.

“Giving the gift of hearing is what we do,” said Bill Austin, Chief Executive Officer of Starkey Hearing Technologies and Founder of Starkey Hearing Foundation. “Hearing is what we give and share with the world that they may smile, laugh, and enjoy a life previously unavailable to them due to a hearing loss disability.” According to Starkey Hearing Foundation, an estimated 63 million children worldwide suffer from hearing loss. In the U.S., 34 million Americans, or one in 10, live with hearing loss or a hearing disability.

As if Channing Tatum wasn’t hot enough, he goes and pulls a Ryan Gosling. Now even though he isn’t nearly as sexy as Gosling, I officially award Tatum two brownie points.

So here’s the drool worthy story.

Tatum was cruising around Hollywood with a Details magazine journalist when he spotted a woman pushing her stalled vehicle down an exit ramp on the highway. So Mr. Tatum kind of swooped in and took action.
